Shinto Park is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 118/4 Moo 4, 71000, Thailand
We found this place by accident as we had hired bikes from our hotel and were following their map of the area. Shinto Park is located in a village called Ladya which is 16kms from Kanchanaburi town. It is a beautiful and well tended memorial garden on the banks of the Kwai river. According to the leaflet we were given it exists to promote Asian peace and understanding and is a joint Thai and Japanese venture. As well as the garden and memorials there is a small museum and a small pagoda. There are two shady areas with tables and chairs and clean toilet facilities. We arrived half an hour before the 10am opening time but the gardener unlocked the museum and pagoda and showed us around and encouraged us to take photos. There is no entrance charge. I get the impression there are not many visitors which is a shame as it is a beautiful place working to promote peace.
You will get a very quiet and refreshing surrounding.Best for getting relaxed after a hectic week of working.Take your yoga matress with you to take a nap.

Tripadvisor, Google maps and Lonely Planet all have Shinto Park in the WRONG location.It is in the small town of Lad Ya, on the west side of the bridge over the river kwai.It is about 15km north of Kanchanaburi and is a good cycle ride. Go north on the 323, which becomes the 3199. Look for a left turn to Xanado (2km in english) this will take you parallel to the river on a quiet road and beautiful countryside. In Lad Ya, turn left to the river.Although small the Park is well worth a visit and it is beautifully maintained. A fitting memory to the thousands that died building the railway.
Very peaceful and beautiful. We were the only people there besides the two caretakers who showed us everything. It sends the right message to the world that peace is essential and achievable.
The garden is well and beautiful created by the Janpaness in conjunction with Thai monk in Kanchanaburi .There are small but worth watching religion building like Shinto ,Tao ,Buddhism .
