Riverside Promenade is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Songkwai Rd., 71000, Thailand
The Riverside Promenade is nice for an evening stroll or a night out. I had dinner at one of several good and cheap restaurants with friendly staff. Strolled down the riverside watching the river party rafts sailing up and down the river. Music from the rafts might be a bit too loud to me, but people seemed to having a good time. Ended up with a drink at a bar with live music. At the southern end of the promenade there are a couple of stationary raft restaurants, where you can sit outside enjoying your meal, while watching the river life. A nice and relaxing experience.
The area around the bridge is a little touristy, but as you move out there are quieter restaurants, some of which are actually on the water. Our choice was not far from the hotel.
This is quite a nice area to walk. Kanchanaburi has a lot of war history for Australians and all the areas are a must see to get a real understanding of the place.
Very nice river promenade with lot of cafes and restaurants – if possible (weather conditions) take outside seat and table and enjoy sunset on opposite rive bank.as touristic main focus is around historical famous river bridge – here you can bit better relax and have more quite surrounding
Close to the bridge we came across it by chance, lined with little restaurants where you can also get a drink and enjoy the view of a very quiet river. Only fast boats for tourists and at around 10pm a party boat crawls past down the river. The music is sooooo loud I’m surprised it doesn’t take off however, the people on it seemed to be having a good time.
Nice spot to catch a meal and get good pictures. You can also catch some boat activities around the area.
If in Kanchanaburi, the main sights to see are the River Kwai, the Thai-Burma Railway and the cemeteries.This is a lovely promenade to see the river.
