The place for everyone who likes views. It’s very hot so take some water with you, even though it’s possible to buy something at the spot. People get to the top by cog railway. It’s not that long, but refreshing ride. The building of this complex are on different hills so once you get up there, be prepared to go up and down all the time, sometimes quite steeply.There is a lot of monkeys in the woods so be prepared. The monkey are not cuddly creatures and they can easily steal something from you.
Follow the paths down to the horse stalls to see some lovely landscaping and good views (through the smog) of Phetchaburi). The Royal palace is attractive and has quite a bit of period furniture and decorative pieces. Excellent area to do a little birdwatching as the entire hill is covered with trees and shrubs and there are many birds to see.
We saw this place from the road as we passed through Phetchaburi and it looked so interesting that we felt that we must visit. The attraction itself is superb – we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The views are breathtaking from the top. I have taken off one point because this place operates a two price structure for foreign visitors. Considering that I live and work in Thailand and pay my taxes like everyone else I find this practice unfair.
Seen it from the road many times and decided – got to see it. The weather was a light drizzle. Hardly anyone here on a Sunday on a long weekend due to the weather. Staff very kind and helpful. Walk up if you want the exercise to take the cable car and relax. This was a royal residence and it is beautiful and very modest compared to flashy gigantesque places elsewhere. You should come here if;- you are in the region- like to see down to earth and not bling bling- like walking- you appreciate local customs and respect it (shoes off and no photos in certain areas, etc)You should not come here if you;- want neon and modern things- don’t like uneven somewhat slippery surfaces when wet

Like most of the historical parks in Thailand, this one is well-maintained, with beautiful gardens and landscaping. The site includes the summer palace build 160 years ago, during the reign of King Rama IV. There is a small museum in the summer palace itself and several other temples and buildings. To reach the park, visitors can walk up the mountain (only recommended if you are fit, eager for exercise, and keen to fight off the hundreds of monkeys that live in the area) or take the funicular cable car up from the west side of the mountain. My wife was bitten by a monkey.No key could be found from the first aid kit. Quik to a nearby hospital: 5 injections, have to come back in 3 days for more injections, check up in 6 month. So beware of aggressive and dangerous monkeys.Better don’t go at all.
We stopped here on our train journey from Bangkok to Surat Thani (for Krabi/Samut). Although only 3/15 hours of the route was a peaceful tourist free spot and a tour highlight. You can leave your bags at the station and walk or grab a tuk-tuk en route. Be aware the cable car is closed for maintenance middle two weeks of June and you can’t walk up from that side! Had a nice meal by the river at Rabieng Rimnam and then continued by sleeper. (Not many taxis use Grab app)
Stunning old palace enclave in the mountain on the way to Hua Hin. Need to take the tram or walk up, the floor is slippery so make sure to wear proper shoes. Aside from the palace there are temples and shrine and tons of monkeys!
We went up on the funicular railway. It would have been a long climb otherwise. The gardens at the top are beautifully kept. Stunning views. The museum was interesting, being the old palace. It was very quiet and peaceful and we thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
