  1. This is where you’ll find the reclining Buddha which is covered in gold leaf. It’s so huge that you have to wait for the right timing to take a photo as the temple is too small for a giant Buddha and lots of tourists are packed inside.

  2. Wat Pho Bang O is an interesting alternative to the Grand Temple if you want to avoid the huge crowds there.Nearby, it is cheaper, B200 against B500, and offers a range of structures, the main one for tourists being the reclining Buddha. If you are lucky, you may attend a religious ceremony in the main hall.

  3. There are numerous buildings to visit but the reclining Buddha is most interesting. Good examples of Thai architecture – colourful and quirky. Worth a visit, especially if you haven’t visited a wat before.Hawkers outside tell you that you can’t enter wearing shorts because they want to sell you long pants. That is not the case except for short shorts. Women’s shoulders should be covered but they will lend you a shawl to wear for free.

  4. It’s the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok so it’s well worth a visit even just to see the huge reclining Buddha. The grounds are huge with many small temples and entrance gates guarded by the farang (westerners). There is so much to see here and it’s so colourful. It’s such a large area it’s easy to get lost. Must visit the courtyard lined with buddha’s. Easy a morning or afternoon trip.

  5. Serene place and quite a lot of tourists on an average day. It is quite an assuming Buddha to be depicted in such a position. Ladies, remember to cover forearms and make sure your skirts are not too short. A little too touristy for my liking but understandable.

  6. This is a wonderful temple with the 150ft (46 metres) long reclining Buddha. The Buddha is beautifully decorated, it is especially worth noting all the detail on the feet in Mother of Pearl – stunning detail. The walls of the temple are also beautifully decorated and colourful. It was good to see that a lady was there doing some restoration work on some of the paintings on the pillars. As always when visiting temples you must be dressed appropriately, but it is worth it to see such a thing of beauty up close.

  7. Just revisited Wat Pho with its beautiful reclining Buddha right after the lockdown and before foreign tourists are allowed. The grounds were beautiful which I fully enjoyed without the usual crowds.

  8. One of BKK most iconic sights. The huge reclining Buddha.  A busy spot but a place where you can find a quiet moment for respect and reflection.    Easy to get to from bus/boat/taxi/BTS.  Cost 200 baht entry which goes to maintenance.  The surrounding buildings are also really interesting and the nearby village has a few nice local F&B spots

  9. Who wouldn’t want to see a 46 metre laying Buddha with 5 metre feet!Seriously impressive site with nearly 400 Buddhas in one location.
