  1. Definitely worth a stop, was very peaceful, beautiful setting, informative. One of my favorite places in Chiang Mai. I went twice, the second time with a sketchbook.

  2. It’s a 10-15 min ride out of the city wall near the airport, but worth it. When you’ve had enough of temples this is great. It’s quiet and peaceful, and not packed full of tourists. Lots of old little houses in a garden setting.

  3. Get a taxi and ask driver to wait as it is not serviced well with transport options. You might spend 1/2-1 1/2 hours here. 20 Baht entry. There was virtually no-one here when we visited, a real bonus and change from the temple crowds. Run by CM University, then 9 or so houses and rice barns are 100-150 years old, donated by old families and transplanted from original locations. Lovely gardens. Do the free interpretative modern exhibition.

  4. Group of about 9 Thai houses, transplanted from the area around Chiang Mai and reconstructed in the museum grounds. For us it was well worth the visit, really interesting.

  5. This place is quite amazing since they keep so many typical traditional house from the basic to the luxurious one. You can easily to feel how Chiang Mai people lived during the past times. Besides, this place is a perfect photo spot. You will take as many photos as you can with the natural and retro background. If you come to Chiang Mai and wanna enjoy something local and beautiful, please come here!

  6. Nice collection of houses in a lovely setting. Recommended for anyone with interest in architecture, history, traditional life.

  7. Nine Lanna wooden houses and four rice barns have been assembled on this site by Chiang Mai University and the Us Ambassador’s fund for cultural preservation .The main offices were the Chiang Mai office of the Bombay Burma trading company .A great piece of architectural cultural heritage with few visitors .Check the opening hours as it’s closed on public holidays .

  8. Great display of donated Lanna buildings. The grounds are well cared for and are peaceful to walk around. I’m surprised there weren’t more visitors. This place is a must visit for people who appreciate culture and history.

  9. A oasis of calm in Chiang Mai. The well preserved houses are placed in a park like setting with a small amount of information about each one in English and Thai. Staff was friendly and helpful. We learned a lot about Lanna culture and history.
