  1. Railay East is bay-shaped and the beach is a mix of mud and sand, therefore is not ideal for neither beach- or water related activities. Because of the mud, there are mangroves scattered around the beach and may be of interest to some, where you can walk right near to them for a closer look. Walking along the beach is still possible. In addition, there is a raised concrete wall which also serves as the walkway along the beach.Railay East is the connecting point between Phra Nang Beach and Railay Beach (West) by foot, a short walk between the two doable in like 15-20 min on the correct trail. It has a totally different atmosphere than the other two, accommodation to the South and some local villages to the North, where most coconut trees can be seen. The bay is also bordered by limestone hills, different but not less impressive than those seen elsewhere in the peninsula.Railay East however serves as an important port for Railay Peninsula, where goods are shipped in. Boat transfer to Krabi town is also available from the pier at the middle of the bay, where a boat man was seen calling out to attract guests. If I am not mistaken, I think I recall him calling out transfer to Ao Nang as well. One can feel the bustling but not chaotic atmosphere here, as in some crowded spots. I had to pass this place when walking between Phra Nang and Railay beaches, but did not expect this place to have a quaint atmosphere, beautiful limestone hills and some nice locals who kindly provided me direction when I was lost.

  2. Krabi has one of the world most beautiful drop cliffs. And Railay East Bay opens to the sea horizon. The morning wakes up to the most spectacular sunrise.

  3. It worth to see because of the Mangroove trees and view, but this side rather home of the resorts and bars.

  4. You have to walk along the beachfront pathway when coming from West Railay beach to Phra Nang beach. If mud and mangroves is your thing then this beach will interest you. I did walk past some very expensive resorts which I thought was suited for those seeking total peace and quiet within the confines of the resort.I did observe boats delivering cargo supplies for the area as well as some boats transporting tourist groups. I just took a few pics and moved on to Phra Nang.

  5. The views are still pretty and there’s a reasonable selection of shops & bars here but this is not a place for sunbathing as it’s not a nice soft sandy beach, but rather a bit of a mess, a place boats drop off, and where the tide goes out a long way at low tide…you tend to walk along this coastline though to get to Rayavadee resort and on to the stunning Phra Nang beach which is a must see as the best beach on this peninsula by far.

  6. Unless you love the mangrove tree water view, there really isn’t much to see at Railay East beach. It serves more of a port for transporting goods and even people to cruise ships. A visit to Tew Lay Bar at the end of Railay East is definitely worth the 20mins walk from Railay West Beach though. Also dotted along Railay East beach are many budget hotels and backpacker hostels which can be a great option as a base to enjoy Railay Peninsula.

  7. Friday 19th January was the first of our two visits to this beach, as we were walking from Railay West to Phra Nang Cave Beach. The first time we were here the tide was out and it was not the prettiest of sights. The mangrove tree roots were exposed as was all the rubbish and dirt.As the tide was so far out Hotel guests were being transported to and from boats in caged trailers towed by tractors across the sand/mudflats.One of most prominent features of the beach is the Floating Pier, visitors and hotel guests arrive and depart from here. The pier comprises of interlocking plastic blocks, which stretches out into the water. It does wobble a bit with the tidal movement and rather difficult to drag cases along. There is also some dramatic and beautiful mountainous scenic background. When the tide is out it is possible to walk across the sand to Phra Nang Cave Beach. When the tide is in there is a pathway along the back of the beach and in front of the holiday resortsWe did return a few days later and it was a different story as the tide was in, the rubbish and dirt was covered over and the trees just rose up out of the waterWe walked along the raised pathway and had to dodge the splash from the waves hitting the wall, made it interesting and bit of a laugh. This is not the type of beach to roll out the beach mats and spend some time here.
