Great experience at the Habitat campTwo adults two young adults Full day with 3 elephants mother child and another female. Lots of time to feed them. Walk. Play in mud and then go for a swim. The local people were very friendly and knowledgeable (Pram was our guide??)Amazing to watch them eat and walk through the treesBeautiful scenery with rice paddies forested hills and a fast flowing creek and poolLunch tasty and a place to shower and changeNo mosquitoes Logistics from hotel good with a newish van and short trip with 4WD90 minutes there and over two hours back because of city traffic we ended up walking from one of the hotel dropoffs as the old city was jammed
2 very amenable elephants at this home. Our family fed the elephants with huge amounts of bananas which they enjoyed but of course they kept demanding more. We could scrub them down in the river and they showed their appreciation by giving you a shower from their trunks! The family gave us a fantastic spread of food for lunch. We also enjoyed watching the traditional weaving which also goes on here.
A full day of getting to know and care for elephants. The setting is beautiful. The snacks and lunch were very good. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The day was beyond my expectations. Only 12 people are allowed for this day trip. They picked us up at our hotel in a van for the trip to the preserve. There was a video presentation in the van to prepare us for meeting our new elephant friends.
It was a very special experience, being able to feed the elephants, take a walk with them, see them play in the mud and then bathe them in the river… the instructor was extremely nice, explained everything in very good english. Tasty lunch, water, tea and coffee were included. After all the fun we were able to take a shower and we were given towels.During the whole day they took pictures of the activities and interactions with the elephants, so you dont even need to worry about capturing the moment, just enjoy the magic of it. I think this is a must when coming to thailand. We stayed just for the day but I would definitely consider staying for longer. Life changing:)
An ethical elephant sanctuary will not involve elephant riding and other abnormal activities like elephants painting, lifting logs, etc. Also, an ethical elephant sanctuary will only keep rescued elephants in an unchained condition, freely in a natural environment. There are few ethical elephant sanctuaries in Chiang Mai, such as Elephant Nature Park, Maerim Elephant Sanctuary, Maeklang Elephant Conservation Community, Happy Elephant Home, BEES – Burm and Emily’s Elephant Sanctuary, Ethical Elephant Sanctuary, and Kanta Elephant Sanctuary. We chose to do a half-day morning visit to Kanta Elephant Sanctuary.
This was one of our best days in Chiang Mai. Our guide Em C. was the nicest. She taught us all about the elephants and how they were rescued. She made us feel very safe with the elephants and by the end of the day we were friends with the elephants! Em answered all of our questions throughout the day. She was excellent. We were picked up in a nice car and watched a video on the elephants on our way out there which was very informative and interesting. We fed the elephants, walked with them into the woods, bathed them, and fed them again. Our lunch was incredible (noodles, rice, soup, fruit, dessert, etc). It was nice having only a few people on the tour giving us so much time with the elephants. Our tour guide Em took lots of pictures of us throughout the day. Lots of place for shade and cold water to cool off. All around amazing day!!
We had an incredible day here! Got to feed, bathe & walk with the elephants. The guide was super funny and had great knowledge about the background of each elephant and where they were rescued from. The lunch was beautiful (better than some restaurants I’ve been to). There was a lot more one to one with the elephants than I expected which was fantastic. Overall would absolutely recommend! This is probably the highlight of my trip to Thailand!!
Great! With respect for the animals. with our family we were allowed to wash the animals in a fresh water pool. After that we put suntan (mud) on the animals. A very tastfull lunch. Highlight of our 3 weeks vacation!
Picked up as promised from our hotel. The trip was an hour or so in a comfortable van. There were only five of us booked in on this day, so it was nice and relaxed, with some nice people. We were given a briefing while driving up and also a safety reminder when we got to the park. We hand fed the elephants (five adults and one baby – the baby was a real dag and was like a typical playful two year old child) a variety of food. Walked around the general area with them. They were guided by the staff bribing them with food, nothing else. The elephants were at ease around us, you can pretty much walk right next to them, but be careful of a swishing tail smacking you in the face:-). This walk was down to a waterhole, where the elephants could get in, a general bush ramble and then back up for a tasty vegetarian lunch. After lunch, fed the elephants again and then followed them down to the mud bath. I was first in and last out. A great experience. Back up for a shower and then fed the elephants again, before heading back to Chiang Mai. Don’t think that this will be a fantastically exciting day out hugging elephants. The elephants are really only interested in getting food off you. But the experience of seeing these wonderful, huge, lovable beasts, in a natural environment is second to none. A memory to treasure
We stayed at the Karen Eco Lodge just down the road so no long journeys for us.This was the best day out we was given instructions what to do and not do, we was given clothes the elephants would recognise. It truly was a amazing day and one my kids will never forget we hope to come back one day
