Visited the Cave and hidden beach as part of a days boat trip from Pak Meng, it was fairly busy, great experience and fun had at the beach, kids loved it. Definitely recommend visiting.
So we are two generally happy people who booked a private tour to the cave. Cave was so cool and a fun thing to do, the whole tour including some snorkeling took us like 3,5 hrs. Upon arrival there were plenty of other tourist floating in a row like a band of pearls with their life jackets, being swum into the cave by a tour guide, which to us was hilarious. It looked really funny, but also smart way of getting asian tourists into a cave for a day of exploring despite the lack of swimming knowledge 🙂 You gotta give Asians cred for their business savvyness. If you’d like the cave empty of people, come early in the morning, like always when you visit sightseeing places. And if you have a waterproof bag, bring it with you as there’s a bit of land in the middle of the cave and a tiny beach where you can walk up on. We didn’t and so that was a bummer. Went here as part of our snorkling trip around the island. Were advised not to go in the morning because sea lice would be there in great numbers because of the cold water. Instead we went snorkling on a private longtail which started at the pier and ended at the Charlie Beach, with emerald cave in between around 15:00. Only a few more people were there and we were pleasantly surprised. Definitely wouldn’t wanted to have missed this! It is a beautiful piece of nature and it truly spoke to the imagination of pirates having stored their booty here! Entire tour cost us 1600 baht including snorkles, drinks, some snacks, etc.
It’s a nice thing to experience, but it’s important to hit it without as many other tourists. It looked better on pictures, but If you have children with you, I bet they will remember this trip forever.
I had to rent a private longtail boat to be able to visit. Yes, only accessible at low tide via 80m long tunnel. Once you are through the tunnel it opens up to one of nature’s wonders. I was fortunate to have about 5 minutes where it was just me and my boat guy. I have visited similar in the Philippines but this is number one. Not to be missed.
This was one of the highlights of our entire trip – when you step out of the tunnel into the cave your mind will be blown – just make sure there are no tourist boats moored outside before you head in as it can get super busy!
You swim through a dark cave/channel (only way to get there) through the rocks and when you get there you are on an amazing and stunning beach totally surrounded by steep rocks and beautiful plantsBring a waterproof torch for the swim.
I was nervous to go on this trip with my 4 kids (16, 14, 11, and 6) but it was safe and one of the most memorable experiences of their lives. I know some other reviewers mentioned wanting private boats and more privacy but for us, we felt better being among a larger crowd, so Jaravee Tours was perfect. They ran a really organized and safe trip, with a very clean ferry and sanitized snorkel masks. If you want to see clear blue/green water in Thailand without the super duper lengthy and expensive boat ride, this is it. Honestly, I don’t know if I ever will feel the need to go to Ko Phi Phi or Similan when this is so close. The dark part of the cave was frightening (for my 14 year old who wasn’t in the mood for this whole day) but my 6 year old was fine. The tour guides know it freaks people out. The cave ceiling is like 100 feet high. The coral reefs were really stunning. You do have to try and avoid overcast days b/c the sun brings the fish out! And makes the water even more clear blue! The lunch was good! (Spicy yellow curry, rice, fresh fruit, pandan cake).
Wonderful journey! Great cave swimm and perfect nature hideaway.Important: the earlier you go in the morning, the less tourists are there. We went there around 8:30am and were alone… it was just perfect!Best is if you swimm into the cave or you have a small kanu.
We went for 8 am, there were already boat loads of tourists. Swimming into the cave was really neat (80 meters to the beach), the beach inside is small and not much to it. At that time in the morning the colour of water (emerald) was not very visible. The clarity/visibility below for snorkelling was very poor. You saw more of the emerald coloured water when leaving the cave.
