  1. This Thai temple has had a long history and many of very well respected monks had been visiting or staying here. Great Thai architect like you will see in other Thai temple but the good part is that it is right in town so very easy to visit. Not much you can do though apart from paying homage to the late Luang Pu Lee and walk around taking photo.

  2. Wat Phothisomphon is one of the more interesting sites of Udon Thani. Udon Thani is one of the major cities of North Eastern part of Thailand. This area is called Isan. This area is less touristic than the other part of North Thailand. But this temple is worth a visit. Wat Phothisomphon is the impressive temple complex with about 20 buildings. Most of the buildings are in the “classical” Wat style. But to my opinion there are two sites in the Temple complex that very interesting. The first one is actually by the one of the entrances and outside of the Temple. On the outside near the entrance there two sculptures of a dragon in the Chinese style. The dragons are wrapped old tree trunks. From the Dragon sculptures you see the beautiful shrine is flanked by 5-headed Phaya Naga. If you admired this shrine you can walk into the Temple complex. And then go to the recently build Chedi. This Chedi is a piece of modern architecture, that makes it especially interesting to seen visit ir.

  3. This is a lovely complex with a lovely tempole and amazing wat that you can go inside and climb a couple of stories up – amazing paintings inside as well. Everyone around seemed very friendly and gentle – just a really nice place to visit.

  4. Located in the middle of the city there’s a few sights to see in this area. Not to mention the lake with large inflatable ducks. It’s the normal standard beautiful Thai temples you see everywhere. Probably a good idea to go early because it gets so hot. A little tip is if you take the tram card city tour from Central plaza around Udon Thani it takes you here with a 20 min break. These tours depart 11:30am and 2:30 pm from memory.

  5. If you have time you shall visit this place. Although it is not a large public area to walk, this place will not waste your time.

  6. This temple is one of the important one in Udonthani where the one piece of Buddha ‘s bone is here in the bigest padoda. The crucial religion traditional event was settle here shuch as newyear playing.

  7. visit in the morning with cooler weather . Nice simple temple with some historical stories of various monks. there is also a relic near the other side of the temple which might be missed is u didnt explore the place on foot.

  8. Very good complex with multiple temple all nice and colourful, the main temple has stairs to the top and it’s got a good view of the whole temple complex. Not far away from the public park with the big ducks so maybe see this temple at the same time. Not as grand as other temples but interesting especially when you can walk up the stairs.
