We took two tours with this company which I have reviewed separately under the actual tour names. (The Phi Phi island day trip and the James Bond sunset tour on the big boat). Phuket Sail Tours is a class act. I’m very glad we chose them. The website is very informative. The booking is easy and they only require a 20 or 25% deposit. Cancellation terms are reasonable. They respond to emails in a timely manner. Communication the day before the trip was excellent. Pickup in a comfortable, air-conditioned van was punctual. They have a little lounge with a bathroom where you can get food and drink before getting on the boat while others are arriving and final payments are made. The staff on land and sea are friendly and helpful. We saw boats packed to the gills with people while we had groups of 9 and 14 on the two trips we took. We really loved the camaraderie that developed with our fellow tourists which wouldn’t be possible with larger groups. We could easily move around the boat. The staff seems very invested in showing its customers a good time. They plan the itinerary based on tides, crowds, and other factors. They are friendly and informative. The main tour leaders spoke fluent English and the other staff spoke enough English to get their instructions across and focus on safety. The boats were clean and in good condition. The skipper, pilot or whatever you call the boat driver was skilled and experienced, familiar with the local waters. I wholeheartedly recommend Phuket Sail Tours for its philosophy and business practices.
This is a great company to tour the eastern coast of Phuket with. I give the company 5 stars. I wrote a separate review of the company itself. The Phi Phi Islands themselves are beautiful but oh, so touristy, crowded and chaotic, hence the 4 star review. Its not Phuket Sail Tour’s fault. The tour we took left early in the morning to avoid larger crowds. I can’t imagine how bad the crowds are later in the day given how many people were at Maya beach when we were there. It was a bit of a circus with many many boats jockeying for space where their tourists could disembark. I was afraid of getting pushed off the boardwalk that leads from the boat dock to the beach. Walking around on the beach was fine but the rest felt really crowded. Be aware that you cannot go into the water past your knees. They are trying to protect the baby sharks and the coral. The photo ops are great and Maya bay is stunning. Viking Cave and Monkey beach were also fairly crowded with boats. We viewed both from the boat. Viking cave was just an opening in the rocks but the monkeys on the beach were entertaining. The two times we snorkeled were great. They provided fins (very helpful with the current at the first stop) and nice masks. I brought my own prescription mask with me. Lots of colorful fish, starfish and coral. Some people saw baby sharks. At the second stop at Bamboo Island, someone told me to go way out to the floats furthest from the beach and I was rewarded with multiple species of baby fish swarming around me. It was incredible. I’ve snorkeled a lot and never been in the midst of such a nursery of colorful small fish. The lunch at a restaurant on Phi Phi Don was delicious and right on the beach. Service was excellent. Our group of 14 was divided between two tables and we had lots of lively conversations, sharing photos and laughs. As noted in previous reviews, the trip to and from the Phi Phi Islands in the speedboat was about an hour and a bit on the rough side. We were told it was not a particularly rough day but it was still pretty bumpy. I wanted to see these famous islands and really wanted to snorkel. Now that I’ve done it, I would choose another, less crowded location in the future. Still, the islands were extraordinarily beautiful and the water is a striking blue color.
Awesome tour, food was delicious, our tour guide was very friendly, the locations were amazing, the staff was great, everything was eell organized , it was a big tour with many locations with no delays , very well run operation,
We actually got to see the Bioluminescent Plankton from our 3rd canoe ride that trip throughout the limestone caves. Your provided paddle-man does all the work, entertains you, and acts as your personal guide and photographer. The kitchen staff onboard cook two amazing meals and serve them to you buffet-style. Tip your paddle-man and kitchen staff, they make the day such a unique experience for everyone and are so appreciative! This company does several different tour options so be sure to check them out! This is not a crowded party-boat. They keep the group small (20 or so adults) and are family-friendly. There were even two 18-month old babies that enjoyed the canoe rides with their parents! We cannot recommend them enough and can’t wait to visit Thailand again to try one of their other tours. By far, our favourite day this entire holiday was spent with Phuket Sail Tours.
Highly recommend this tour if you are wanting to do day trips around the islands in Phuket. While slightly more pricy than the average tour company, I believe it is worth every penny with what Phuket Sail Tours offers. Firstly this tour leaves earlier than most of the other tour groups, meaning you are not fighting 100s of other tourist for photos on Maya Bay. Secondly the boat is never overcrowded so the trip feels like a more private experience and everything was included such as national park entrance fees, breakfast, beach mats, delicious lunch and transfers. Not to mention we were also extremely well looked after by the staff on the boat and would like to credit our wonderful tour guide Ana who gave us a lot of info about the islands and made us feel safe whilst doing activities. Would 100% go with Phuket Sail Tours for any island trips in Phuket!
This trip did not disappoint! The crew was professional, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure our group had a great day on the water and at the islands. We were fortunate to have spectacular weather which made for an unforgettable experience. Worth every cent!
This was my favorite day in Phuket – we enjoyed the sunset tour of Phang Nga Bay much more than we thought we would (and we had high expectations!). I highly recommend Phuket Sail Tour’s cruise. There were only 9 of us on a very comfortable big, slow boat. The small group allowed us to all become friends quickly. Jack, the main guide, was funny, informative, & personable. When we got to Phanak Island, we went into our first of 3 hidden lagoons via a cave passage from the ocean in inflatable canoes. Took my breath away: the color of the water….the height of the limestone karst cliffs, the serenity. It was quite an adventure navigating through the caves. The caves are not huge and not long before you get into the lagoon. Jack and his staff have to pay attention to the tides and schedule the order of the cave/lagoon visits, accordingly. We got to James Bond Island 45 min before closing so it was relatively uncrowded. We could walk around, take the stairs to vista points and use the restroom without rubbing shoulders with a lot of people. The staff was very helpful in assisting 2 sixty-somethings in and out of the canoes and our paddleman was quite the character. Dinner on the boat was varied and delicious. There was plenty of water/soda and beer was available for a fee. Unfortunately, the sunset was obscured by clouds the day we went but the colors in the sky were still beautiful. Bring a waterproof case for your cell phone or buy one there so you can take photos inside the caves and lagoons without worry. Booking was easy, communication was great, pickup was punctual and the rest I’ve already detailed. This is a class act.
