Elephant Nature Habitat is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Thailand
It’s located in a real karen tribes village. The natural surrounding is peaceful and beautiful. My husband and I enjoyed playing with and feeding the elephants. The truly are wonderful. We highly recommend this experience. The tour guides were very personable and friendly. They made sure that we had a terrific time.

I’v been in the Elephant nature habitat with my friends and I have to say that it was awesome. The place is located in the middle of the jungle. When we arrived there we had a tasty lunch that was basically food from the area ?And after that we went to find the elephants to feed them and share a bath in the river ?They don’t ride the elephants and I didn’t see any chain or something like that so I recommend you this place if you wanna have an unforgettable experience!
Me and my wife wanted to find an intimat and natural experience were you can get in touch with the elephants and this trip was right on spot, the driver was very nice and the guide was amazing. You get to see the elephants in thier real natural habitat, feed them, bath them and all in a remot non-toristic area. The guid is a real local tribe member that explained everithing about the elephant and the surrounding. The lunch was really tasty made out of local fresh ingredients. We had a great trip, TIP: bring long pants for the jongle walK against mosquitoes 🙂
We have just spent an incredible day We have just spent the day in the company of devoted, dedicated elephant lovers who have been raised in the jungle alongside these soulful giants of the jungle. After a comfortable air conditioned ride to a distant Karen remote village in the hills far from Chaing Mai, we were greeted by Paw, the general manager and hard worker. He explained the history of his people past and present, very interesting! He then explained why the elephants need to return to their natural jungle habitat. We then went for a 10 minute walk to find the elephants and then sat around and savoured being in the stillness and presence of such soulful giants as they continued to munch happily. We returned to camp and Paw made a sumptuous Karen 3 dish feast from scratch with fresh local ingredients. The brochure said it was a picnic…but it well surpassed it’s humble description. Paw then explained that the elephants need a herbal pickmeup containing all essential nutrients. He gathered them on Palm leaves then we placed them in a Manual crusher which we peddled to make the crushing arm go up and down. Once crushed, we rolled it into balls and Paw wrapped them in banana leaves and we fed them to the appreciative pregnant mother and baby son. A swim and cooling down finished off a fabulous visit. We got way more value, time and info than expected. Also, it was my husband’s birthday so Paw very thoughtfully organized a cake as a surprise!! A truly generous touch since he stated he had never had one himself. Luckily there was plenty to share!! Also, we were truly spoiled because FOOD AMAZING – cooked from scratch from fresh local ingredients of remote Karen village; PAW & his team fabulous; Only 2 of us; Surprise b’day cake; grateful for everything!! Highly recommend this tour. We were collected exactly at 7am as planned. We drove, in air conditioned comfort, 1.5hrs to a remote Karen village where Paw, the organiser and hard worker, joined us and we were taken to a nearby clearing in the hills. Paw then explained the history of the Karen people including the current struggles of his people. We were very interested because we had heard a lot about it but not from someone whose people were effected. He explained a lot about his 2 elephants, mother and baby son, and the need to bring them home to the hills and their origins away from toxic water, poor and insufficient nutrition when used as working elephants near cities and closer to their tribe. The incredible bond between mother and baby son could not have been stronger. They touched each other, remained close and appeared totally connected through love. It was wonderful to witness. We loved just sitting in the peace of the jungle and watching them eat. Incredible the cracking of bamboo, banana leaves against a background of silence!!They did have bells on their necks but they explained that, due to having no fences, the elephants sometimes strayed into local farmers rice fields…and this was not welcomed so the bells gave the farmers a warning to go out and encourage them to move elsewhere. Also, Paw called them his GPS…so he knows where they are since they are free to roam a large area of jungle. The brochure said a picnic lunch would be provided but Paw made, from scratch, a sumptuous feast of 4 dishes all from fresh, local ingredients and using his traditional Karen cooking style. It way surpassed our expectations. After lunch we were educated about a natural herbal healthy treat they provide for the elephants to prevent illness. He gathered rice husks, tamarind, salt, bananas and another bitter root on banana leaves and we were asked to place them in a manual crushing machine. We then pressed the pedal for the crushing weight to go up and down while another person made sure that all the ingredients were pushed under the crushing weight, using a stick. Once crushed and mixed sufficiently, we rolled the mixture into balls and Paw wrapped them in banana leaves and put them directly into the elephants’ mouths. They relished them!!Once done, it was time for a wash off for all and some good healthy water squirting from the young cheeky baby. Lots of fun!!This was meant to be a half day tour but we got way more time, enthusiasm and value for our money. We encourage you to give Paw, his daughter Peace, driver Pok and his team a go if you are considering a day out. It’s a little further than others but an interesting and comfortable drive. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. ENJOY!!
