My friends and I were staying on Ko Samui for the week and had never been to the Full Moon Party before. We had heard horror stories about trying to catch the ferry back to Koh Samui from Koh Phangan, so I looked into VIP boat services and came across Petcherat. This service was 100% worth it- we paid 1,300 baht each (which was around $37 USD) for round trip VIP speed boat service. We jumped on the boat in Ko Samui and easily made our way to Koh Phangan around 10 pm. The return is what we were worried about, but no problems! We left around 4 am and only waited about 15 minutes for the boat to fill, and then we were on our way home. The lines for other boat services were very long compared to Petcherat, so we were all extremely glad we made the decision to pay for their services.
My girlfriend and I booked the VIP service for Full Moon party and what we experienced was anything but. While it is true that we waited only 15 minutes compared to the long lines at some other operators, Petcherat chose to leave in extremely dangerous conditions (which weren’t apparent when we were getting on).The transfer over to Phangan went smoothly, but the return was a nightmare. Our speedboat was going full blast through extremely large waves, soaking everyone on board (and right through anything you have with you). Twice during the transfer, we hit a wave so hard that the entire right side of the boat was flown out of their seats and onto the floor or the people on the left side. The spray was so bad that the driver was covering his eyes for most of the transfer. When we did arrive at the pier, it took us over 40 minutes to dock because of the weather conditions and unexperienced driver. Multiple times we unsuccessfully docked, with other passengers on board noting that the driver was clearly unexperienced. When we finally got back to the pier, we confronted the owner about the unsafe journey (the weather died down an hour or so later and all transfers should have been halted). He denied all responsibility for knowing the weather conditions (other boats left after ours in the same conditions from the same company – so obviously they knew) and said we were “he was just happy we made it back safely”. I guess we were wrong in assuming our safety assurance was just par for the course.Save yourself a terrible experience and choose an operator that cares about your safety more than just money. I would gladly have waited in the line at Koh Phangan, knowing I would get back in one piece.
Best way for a trip to the full moon party from Ko Samui. They have the speed boats available all the time while going and also while coming back. I saw many other boat services while coming back from the pier with long ques except this one. If take their service you wont regret it.
Not really one to moan on…. they did the job and got us too and from the full moon party and I felt safe. However we were rushed on to the boat and they failed to give us the VIP passes which we paid for. On board we realised this and told a member of staff who produced a paper ticket for the return trip. we were dubious about this but later in the evening (return trip) in the queue we were identified by the staff and boarded. Ride back was fine not over crowded and like I said we were safe. Once we were back to koh samui we were then told to wait for the next boat to see if there was more people going our way ( mae nam) this was only about a 20 min wait but when u purchase a VIP ticket you are under the impression you have no waiting around.! Hence why we purchased this package. Once we finally got in the bus back to our resort with two other couples we were the last drop off but actually the closest to the marina?! Figure that!!!! All in all we got there and back safe and sound but just wanted to be honest.
Do not travel with this company. The queue was very long getting back from the full moon party. VIP was a complete rip off and means absolutely nothing. We were just bunched with the others. No chance of a refund of the extra for a VIP ticket for the long wait. Plus, they have extremely rude staff
I will highly recommend the speedboat tour guide “Toto”. He is very entertaining. Takes very good care of his customers on board and on land. Very friendly and protective. Toto comes to see if all are comfortable on board. The price per person for the entire tour and the meals, a light breakfast, a very tasty thai lunch and on our return snacks, tea, coffee and fruit juice, choice is yours was well worth the money. A variety of cool drinks all the way up to the 3 islands and back. Also like to recommend the speedboat driver. Fantastic manouvering. Actually the entire staff on board was very attentive.
We took a day trip from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan. The guides were not nice, the whole trip was under pressure and attractions were canceled that the business promised to give. The instructors did not distribute water and we spent a lot of money buying water. A poor, not tasty lunch, the staff at Omegot did not take care of safety, there were stations without guides that we had to connect and disconnect independently, and in the miracle there was no disaster. Do yourself a favor and do not get close
Great trip (semi-private) 10 people total (boat capacity 25)Fantastic staff on boat, very friendly and knowledgeable.Worth paying the extra money (around £100 each) for all day without the crowds.Free drinks and fantastic lunch at fisherman’s village.Highly recommended.
Complete scam artists! Avoid this company like the plague. We booked them for supposedly vip transport to and from the full moon party. Journey there fine – and then no return boat. We waited for 3 hours with 4 children in the group and not one single boat turned up. Ended up having to pay another company 500B each to get us back to Koh Samui at 3am. Please , please, please learn our lesson and do not give this company your money. Rip off artists. If I could give zero stars I would.
Was traveling from Koh Samui to Koh Tao via the Local Bus. I Had 500 USD kept in a secret compartment in the suitcase. Now they make you switch him a minivan to a bus where you load your luggage and it takes you to rhe pier. The distance is about 25kms but the bus moves at turtle pace on an open highway!! I was wondering why the bus driver wouldn’t hit the pedal and complete the trip in what should have been less than 30 mins. When I get to my hotel and open my suitcase, the 500 is gone and the contents of my suitcase are all messed up!!This is a definate scam and AVOID at all costs!!
