Tea Village is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 151/44 Moo 5, North Pattaya Rd. Na Kluea Subdistrict, 20150, Thailand
To me a great tea shop carries a broad range of products, value oriented teas and also higher quality products it would be hard to find, along with extras one might look for, tea ware or herb teas, etc. The best shops are friendly and helpful and let you try teas before you buy them without pressure for a sale to match tasting types, to buy a certain amount. Tea Village covers all that, and through adding a tasting room extends loose tea take-away sales to on-site tea drinking. This all should sound like a marketing pitch, like they wrote it, but I write a blog about teas (quite independent of vendor support, although I do have favorites) and they really do compare well to anywhere in Thailand, or probably anywhere else. The focus on high end teas, the most expensive options, is a little thinner than some shops (in other countries; they compare well here) but value pricing across a broad range is a better fit for most people anyway. I haven’t been there since they added that tasting room / cafe section so I’ll have to update this after I get a chance to. As for Thai teas, lighter oolongs are the main type made, quite nice for being inexpensive, but they don’t reach the same quality level (or price, related) as teas from Taiwan, although they’re made in essentially the same style.
Looked for awhile in the Pattaya before finding this gem of a tea shop. Excellent variety of top quality teas at reasonable prices. The owners are quite knowledgeable and very happy to let you sample various types of teas. They even have a small tea room in the back where they serve homemade scones, clotted cream, and teas on Thurs and Fri. afternoons.
