Orange Wave ATV Safari is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Thailand
Booked with an agency for the next day was good.the next day,The Pick Up was from my hotel was not very good because the car was very old and bumpy.When I arrived nobody spoke or greeted me and the staff was not sympathetic.I booked the 2 hours Tour but really I only drove for about 1 hour. I told the staff I have only driven one time before but no instructions were given on these ATVs at all and the ATV they gave me was too big for me. I drove before on this island and the tour was much more fun and secure.
We can highly recommend Orange Wave ATV for a quad bike safari on Koh Samui. We were collected from our hotel and delivered to their base camp where we were kitted out with helmets and allocated our quad bikes. We had approximately 10 people in our group and 1 tour guide driving ahead. There were 3 other crew members amongst the group who assisted and gave advice and guidance along the way.We stopped at various view points along the way for some great photo opportunities. We had a midway stop at a tree canopy bridge cafe for a rest stop and a short walk to a nearby waterfall.Great fun was had by all.I found the cost very competitive and affordable.
I should first of all say in this review that the tour itself and the guides are excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the ATV parts of the day and the places we visited…however…The problem is you are bound by the others on your particular tour. We were picked up from our hotel and arrived at the office of Orange Wave. We were the first to arrive and were greeted warmly and told we were waiting for the others in the group. Another couple arrived, and we were told the remaining ten people were on the way. After about half an hour, they said there was no more time, so we would go without the others, so there were only four of us on two quads, plus the guide. When we reached the waterfall (where we got a complementary refreshment), we were told the others in the group would join us having finally arrived. After about 20 minutes, the group arrived. Obviously they also got their refreshment, but proceeded to order a load more food and drink. And then more. We ended up waiting more than an hour for them to finish, so we were already running very late. I mentioned to the guide that we needed to be back at our hotel at a certain time (we had something booked), and he assured me we would be back with time to spare.Eventually the group were told we had to leave, so we set off. After a stop at the high Buddha, we then stopped for lunch. By this time it was half an hour before we needed to be back at our hotel, so we ended up having to quickly scoff down our lunch and the guide took us back down to the starting point, and said a taxi would be waiting – which it wasn’t. By this time, we realised we were not going to make it back to the hotel in time and rang the hotel (on our own phone) to cancel. The lift eventually turned up, after the rest of the group had also made it back.While I understand the need to keep everyone happy, I do not understand why our experience needed to be affected by not only the tardiness of the others in the group, but also the fact they were allowed to delay further by eating lots of food at the waterfall stop (bearing in mind lunch was due to be provided shortly afterwards). It felt like they were more important than us. Again I have to say, the staff were all very friendly, but the experience was soured by the disorganisation of others and Orange Wave’s inability to deal with the problem.
Excellent instructions/guides. The ride was not high speed but more of a terrain experience. The maschines were powerfull. We had a flat tyre on the trip and one guide gave us his ATV to continue, while he drove the broken one, standing on the side of it. Excellent instructions and service, highly recommendable.
Great experience, great staff that really took care of us and the kids. The jungle cafe was absolutely stunning! Very highly recommended. Do listen to the guides instructions all the time and it will be great
We did the 2 hour ATV jungle trip as a family of 3 (our 12 year old went as a passenger). We loved it! Our guide Tai was really friendly and experienced. He gave us lots of time to enjoy the views and refreshments and he took lots of photos and videos for us too. Thai took us back along a road so our daughter could have a go at driving which she loved. ATV driving through the jungle was really fun. Our 12 year old could have had her own ATV to drive if she’d wanted to, I’m glad she went as a passenger though as the vehicles are heavy and you need a strong grip to do the gas/breaks so she wouldn’t have been able to do that for 2hrs. We all really enjoyed it
Our group of 13 (from age 10 to 54) had an amazing time on the ATV safari. The guides were very helpful and made sure everyone was safe and knew what they were doing. They also took a lot of pictures for us. The trails could be steep, but nothing too treacherous. The climb to the waterfall was a lot of fun and something one might never see otherwise. Would definitely recommend!
We were a group of 8 people, including 4 teens, that rented 7 quad bikes for the one hour experience. When we showed up only 5 bikes were offered to us because two of our teenagers were deemed to be too young to ride. We were told that we would be refunded the money paid for the extra 2 bikes. That never came to pass.The journey was through ideal terrain for quad bikes – with breathtaking views. However, the joy of riding a quad bike was not to be had because the group was made to travel at a slow, boring pace. Our convoy could have been split into the weak and strong drivers, but the staff could not/would not do it. In fact their assessment of a riders ability was so poor that they didn’t know which riders needed assistance and which ones could be given freedom.That was also fine with us. What really caused us disappointment was the behaviour of the guides. They were nothing less than a bunch of thugs. Besides being extremely rude, especially with the ladies in our group, they did not have even an iota of decency while talking to any of us.After the excursion was over, we were accused of scratching the front of one of the bikes. We have video footage of the so called “damage” to share with you if required. This was clearly a ploy to shake us down for some money or to avoid making the refund. The ladies in our group were visibly shaken after this traumatic experience.In sum:If you are a weak rider, the guides won’t be able to help you.If you are comfortable on a quad bike, you will have to ride like a snail If you are a woman, your safety is not assured.If you still want to go with Orange Wave, be my guest. Just remember that you’ve been warned. Better to take a van ride through the beautiful trail.
We booked the one hour ATV and had a fab time. I have only used a quad once before and my daughter has never tried it before, we both felt at ease and really enjoyed it! Would recommend
The ATV trip was awesome! I really enjoyed the ride, and it was one of the best experiences on the island. The guides were friendly and helpful in every way, so even those who were riding an ATV for the first time had a great time. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of adventure!
