  1. We had our guide leading us through the Mon Village which was very good. He gave many interesting facts about the Mon culture, we saw a lot of things, had a chance to learn about Mon creams and face painting, feed an elephant, see local houses, meet people, see the school and watch the lesson, see the temple, nature around, lot’s of work tools the Mon’s are using, animals, etc. Very good!

  2. It was like a breath of fresh air to see how this village is run. The villagers all help each other and everything is built and made from local materials, mostly bamboo. The village school which we visited and noticed children keenly attentive in their open air classroom. The atmosphere was relaxed with bowls of food on the desks and included a sleeping black cat! We also met an elephant taking a stroll with presumably tourists aboard. There was a small riverside hotel alongside the river which was also part of the village though unlike the Mon people had electricity. The main village is powered by a generator and I believe only some have electricity.Certainly worth a visit. I loved it.

  3. Visited by Longboat (superb) and had an English speaking guide which is a must. The fascinating history of the village comes to life as does the history of the tribe. We visited the school and inter-acted with the children who were being taught English. A lovely way to spend an hour or two.

  4. Not my cup of tea, but the Mon village is home to many people who work at the river rafts resort. Highlight was a strange place for a Buddha

  5. A great way to see how this tribe live. All the people were very friendly and it was a real insight. The Mon school was lovely and the children really cute. Their houses were basic and lack of modern appliances an eye opener.

  6. We stayed on the River Kwai Jungle Rafts and were told that we could visit the Mon village. It was only a couple of hundred metres away and there is a small village with people living in a fairly traditional manner, except for the Solar panels everywhere. They took little interest in us and didn’t even try to sell us anything.Best time to go would be when there are lots of people in the village and not when we went around 1pm when most people had gone out.

  7. while staying on the river kwai jungle rafts we ventured into the hills to see the local mon tribe. the school was really good we spoke to the teacher and he explained all about their culture and way of life very interesting.

  8. It was nice visit there on June 20 morning. Actually those Mon tribe were from Mon State, Myanmar and all were hotel staff from Jungle raft and their family members. Their hotel owner found as Mon tribal village for show and support his business. Not native village as well. But all villagers were helpful and sincere to all visitors. Anyway I appreciate their owner’s creative and management for his hotel business.

  9. The Mon bridge looks nice and the surrounding the lake and the scenery are worth coming here. The best time to make nice pictures and have a nice experience is at sunrise and sunset.there are some simple restaurants on both ends of the bridge and boat trips at the lake are available be aware with your gasoline – take care your tank is full – they had problems to supply cars with diesel when I went there, if you have bad luck you need to stay overnight until the next truck comes to fill the gas stations

  10. The Mon people are from Burma and are allowed to live and build this village by the Thai authorities as they had to flee Burma. It’s very quiet during the day as most villagers work in the local resorts during the day. They have one elephant and trainer so you might be able to have a ride. If the elephant is there pay the lady at the small stall 20 Baht for a small bunch of bananas and feed the elephant.
