  1. it s a nice place in the doi angkhang place.nothing around can be better. i already stayed in the others places .breakfast is acceptable and the bedroom too.

  2. We visited with a family of 9 ranging from 12 months to 75 years. A wonderful cool spot in the mountains when the weather below was up to 40. The road up was windy and narrow in places, but quite doable. The accomodation was quaint chalet style, very neat and clean. The restaurant had the best Thai food that we have eaten on this trip. The gardens are spectacular and the mountain scenery beautiful. Lots of interesting villages on the way up.

  3. We knew it was a bit out of the way but that’s why we went there. All the way at the end of the road literally on the Myanmar border and tucked into the Northern hills it was perfect and what we were looking for. The cool fresh mountain air was so refreshing and perfect for us. The next morning we realised it was just next to the Royal Project, a must visit while you are there. This mountain retreat is a real little hideaway. A bit old but well maintained. We will go back if in the area.

  4. Doi Angkhang is one of the very few places in Thailand where you can experience below freezing temperatures. It is delightful all year round actually; the fresh cool air very invigorating. Fabulous flowers and great vegetables throughout the area.

  5. Doi Angkhang is about 3 hours or so from Chiang mai. YOu will need private van or a 4 wheel car to get there. There are a few budget hotels and one or 2 brand name hotels but the Ranger station resort is the best value in my opinionWe went during December and the weather can go as low as 2 Degrees C. As a singaporean, I found it awesome. The park has huge grounds to walk and see the myriad trees and flowers. There is a restaurant that serves food. Do book a reservation for dinner if you dont want to eat out in the open air. My steaming cup of coffee got cold in 1 min flat. BUt I didnt mind as I love the experience. There are many quaint villages nearby where you can visit and see how life is up in these mountains. Very educational.

  6. It is not advisable to visit by car, you need a truck to get up there. We left our car at a hotel in Fang.We hired a jeep and driver to take us around. He took us to several villages, one was on the Myanmar boarder, another was on the tea plantation, there are also some great view points. The Royal agricultural station is well worth a visit.Be warned it does get a bit chilly in the nighttime.I would definitely recommend going here for a couple of days

  7. Doi Angkhang mountains are some of the most scenic and breath taking places that we have seen in Northern Thailand! There are 2 ways to get there from Chiang Mai and Highway 107 would be the steepest climb from Fang. Although ther roads are quite steep with many curves, they were in very good condition and accessible by car. The Angkhang mountains are some of the highest in Thailand measuring over 2,000 meters or over 6,500 feet. They offer many camping and hiking activities as well as the famous Royal Gardens project areas.

  8. Stay a night here on the Doi!!! Rent a tent for 400 bath include 2 blankets and 2 small pillows!Superb view on the night! Cold!!! Morning sunrise view stunning with misty!!! Alot thai tourist!!! Can bring own stuff for bbq! Have few bamboo shop where you can have your dinner and buy somethings! Public toilet was free but only with cold shower! There is a shop that offer hot shower for 60 bath! There have few camp sites! I already check all! This have the best view and of course have the most people! I stay at the first camp site from the first check point! About 1km from the check point! Camp site only available during winter, from november to February! Really recommended! Will be there again for sure!

  9. My wife and I got to the Songtaw terminal to Doi An khang near Fang at about 1:30 PM. when we asked songtaw driver how much to go to Doi Ang khang, his reply was short & clear, 2,200 Bhat, no matter how many persons got on, 1 or 2, or even 10 persons. We had to pay 2,200 Bhat for me & my wife, only 2 persons. We thought it was so expensive that we gave up the trip to Doi ang khang. We was hesitating for some minutes in order to decide what we would do there. Near the Songthaw terminal, there is a resort named TOTO. We went there for getting some information about another transportation to Doi Ang Khang. There was a landlady. she explained why the songthaw is so expensive. because March is not a popular season so only few people visit there. We suggested her that if we stayed at the resort that night, it could be possible to have a tour of Doi Angkhang. She told us “Okay” but she also asked 1,800Bhat. It’s a little cheaper than that of songthaw but we thought it’s still expensive for us. we gave up Doi Ang khang tour again and got out TOTO resort. when we returned back that songthaw terminal, there were two students who also wanted to Doi Angkhang but were hesitating because of the same reason as we had. we, 2 couples joined and went to the Toto resort again. We negotiated with landlady. She accepted our suggestion that one night stay and morning tour Doi Ang khang for 1400 Bhat each couple. We slept at ToTo resort that night and next early morning we, 4 persons started Toto resort to see the Sunrise and tour every parts of Doi Ang khang. We still appreciated for the land lord’s kindness. When you leave for afternoon from Chiangmai to Doi Ang khang, I think it’s desirable to stay at Toto resort and in the morning start Doi Ang khang tour.

  10. Doi Angkhang is about a 3.5 hour scooter ride from Chiang Mai, Thailand. It is well worth the ride up, but you should be very experienced on a large scooter or motorcycle as the mountain roads are VERY challenging. There are many steep grades, narrow lanes, potholes, bumps and switchbacks. However, the ride is beautiful and the botanical gardens are just what you would expect in a state maintained park in Thailand. Which is to say, well maintained with a lot of national pride! If you happen to be going to Chiang Rai, then this park isn’t very far out of the way.
