  1. Nah does a really nice job with this tour – I would strongly recommend it to anyone with any interest in wildlife. The naturalist/guide does a really good job of spotting and identifying wildlife and explaining the ecosystem and the animals within it. We’ve taken it 3 times now and always see something new.

  2. Stunning! 🤩 The place you see in the movies and always want to go. Large limestone formations lush in greenery. We hired a private long-tail boat for 5000 baht through our hotel. The boat could be used for up to 6 people for that price. This time it was just the two of us and well worth it. The other boats were packed with up to 20 people where as we had so much room. Our driver was great and even stopped at a private area just for us to swim at with no one else. The lake is vast and an absolute must see when in Khoa Sok.Tip: transportation is not easy or cheap around the area. The lake is 1 hr drive from the main area with most of the hotels at the National Park Headquarters entrance. Arrange through the hotel. Alternative if you have your own transport you can hire a boat directly from the pier for around 1300 baht per person. Tip 2 – MUST read my other review on Nang Prai house and save yourself.

  3. It is said that John Cameron visited this lake when he decided to film his Avatar. It is located in the Khao Sok National Park and is surrounded by limestone cliffs and jungle. The height of the rocks is up to 960 meters. The lake is man-made. With fresh water of a greenish-blue hue. A power plant was built here in 1982-1988, and for this purpose 5 villages were flooded. The area of the lake is decent – 165 m2. Upon arrival at the lake during the excursion, we first They showed him from the observation deck, and then they put him on a long-tail boat and drove him 50 minutes to the base of floating houses, where you can spend the night if you wish. But we were unlucky – the monsoon downpour was flooding the lake with all its might, and sitting on the bow of the boat it was impossible to simply open our eyes from the torrents of rain. I was afraid for the phone I was trying to take pictures with. It was very disappointing that such beauty could not be seen or captured – there was a wall of rain and everything was in haze, and the green mountains began to look like harsh Norwegian cliffs. The famous Guilin cliffs – “Three Brothers” also looked gray and sad. The desire to take beautiful photos is simple drowned in fog. And the phrase that nature has no bad weather did not convince us that it was not in vain that we got wet for 4 hours.

  4. Going in a longboat to see the lake was a great experience, although the weather we had was not the best one 😉 The views are beautiful and wild nature delights with its animals and plants. You can go there to see also the jungle and the caven, which makes the trip a real adventure

  5. Fabulous, extraordinary! Definitely worth doing.Leave early in the morning to avoid tourist buses. We paid 1700 + 500 + 100 bats for 4 and a private boat. the tour is wonderful!

  6. So we booked a floating bungalow stay through My Jungle House. You book a certain visit and they do the rest. The lake is stunning with all the Limestone carsks towering above. There are approximately 20 different places to stay in bungalows on the lake. Some more basic than others and also some positioned better too, so do your research if you’re bothered. We were further up the lake which was good in some respects, but not overly close to the mountains, but still had fantastic views of sunrise and sunset.Do not miss this place.

  7. Cheow Lan Lake is located in Khao Sok National Park, in the province of Surat Thani. The water area is about 165 km². The reservoir is surrounded by karst mountains, thickets of tropical trees and winding rivers. The water in the pond can be turquoise, or maybe blue – it all depends on how sunny the day is.We came to Cheow Lan Lake by bike and rented a boat ourselves.

  8. If you’re in or around Phuket, you have to try this place. It’s breathtaking! I love nature, so one day and a night wasn’t enough. I wish I’d stayed another night. I will definitely visit Khao Sok National Park again and stay two nights at the lake.

  9. We stayed for one night in one of the floating hotels as part of a tour. It’s definitely worth the effort. I wish we had just stayed without the tour and had more time to enjoy the location and do more kayaking and swimming in the lake. The hotels are all a 45 to 60 minute boat ride from the pier, so you’ll will get to see plenty of the lake on the way there and back. The cave tours and wildlife tours etc are all unnecessary in my opinion. Just enjoy the magic of the spot. The floating hotels all seem to offer a version of the same experience, differing only in amenity and food quality depending on the price point. We saw most of them from our boat and they all looked fine. We stayed at one of the more expensive, but to be honest the cheaper ones looked like more fun.
