Have shopped there for over 10 years Have fitted out two places of residence in Sydney and Thailand Angela Never fails to suprise me with her experience and knowledge with antiquesGreat place to shop large or smaller items ?
I found this shop through our local expat moms group when I was looking for something local and unique. I ended up with a glorious wooden bookcase where their woodworkers build shelves into old local canal boats (I hate telling everything this because I like to think mine is the only one, but it is now a thing to buy while in Thailand!) and then another time I was there I decided I loved the antique doors they have in the back (definitely go explore the back where the guys are doing the work) and Angella and I ended up designing a beautiful buffet-style table from one of their old barn doors I choose, and paired them with some beautifully-carved old wood bannister stair rail supports as the legs of the table, and it is now one of my most prized pieces that I gaze at all the time! Oh and one more thing- I fell in love with an antique wood elephant that was sitting outside in the elements, and he had a broken foot, and it turned out her woodworkers can repair anything! So they rebuilt the lame foot and he is another one of my Thai prize possessions! I am happy to share photos if anyone wants to PM me. But just go check it out, it’s a fun place to explore.
Firstly…make sure you have time to visit this amazing little oasis in busy Bangkok. I was referred by a colleague and then spent hours just enjoying everything I saw. I purchased several items that I enjoy now every day. The shop has an amazing feel about it. You lose all sense of time. Angela’s skill at arranging items also helps you to imagine each item’s history and want to know about the previous owner. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. Some days I would just stop by after work to enjoy the quietness and the sense of peace that the shop exudes. Antique collectors and lovers of history don’t miss this one when visiting or living in Bangkok!
Angela’s shop i could compare it to Aladdin’s cave with Angela being the perfect genie, warmly welcomed and treasures galore since i’ve visited i’m interested in antiquities especially Chinese and South East Asian.Everywhere you turn there is always something to catch your eye,i was there recently and bought items which i admire daily and love them, and as i work overseas Angela was kind enough to have them expertly packed for me and i flew them back with me and the rest she sent to U.K for me.A must visit when in Bangkok
Absolutely love the wood wax! The smell alone is reason enough to get it – brings a natural colour to the wood and long lasting protection.
Lovely little shop with beautiful furniture and curios. Angela is very friendly too. If you are interested in antiques and vintage pieces I definitely recommend!
Paul’s Antiques has so many beautiful and unique Asian antiques which makes it very hard to choose! I wanted to buy just about everything that they have! It truly is a place not to be missed when you are in Bangkok. The owner and her staff are great too and they make you feel right at home 🙂 I will certainly pick up a few more items on my next visit.
I bought two old Burmese chais with Paul’s. They would ship the chairs to The Netherlands. No problem at all, they said. Time after time there were delays and the owner who lives in the States wanted suddenly more shipping money. What can you do. You pay. In the end they broke the chairs apart to fit it in a smaler box and ruined the chairs completely. So broken chairs which costed far more than a 1000 dollars US. Shall I do business with Paul’s again? NEVER. So be careful buying from Paul’s in the shop it looks nice, but after delivery its ready for the trash can.
I bought two beautiful chairs with Paul’s Antique in the beginnen of this year. They arrived completely broken. The owner of Paul’s was willing to compensate me. So in the end there was a neat solution. Thanks.
I had an amazing experience visiting and was treated to seeing many beautiful pieces from Asia, the likes of which you don’t see in America or Europe. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable and I was impressed by the in house wood working shop that restores and males custom pieces from reclaimed wood. Definitely a must see for anyone visiting Bangkok who appreciated antiques, art of history. The best part was I got to take a piece of it home!
