Pam and her husband picked us up from the hotel and took us to the markets to buy all the fresh produce. It was a great experience to see the various stalls and all the different herbs and spices. As there was three in our group Pam taught us how to make 5 different dishes whiich we chose from her restaurant menu, Tom Kha gai, Tom yum, Green Curry, Pad Thai and Bannana Blossum Salad. She showed us all the tricks to making a tasty thai dish and we even got to invite the other 2 in our group to eat our dishes for lunch. For a half day it was worth the price ( half the amount the hotels were charging) Her restaurant turns over alot of customers so all the food is fresh. Highly recommend Pams Cooking Classes.
We have spent a fantastic cooking class with Pam. After she picked us up at our hotel, we went to the Bang Niang morning market to buy some if the ingredients we required for the dishes we have chosen to cook. We had enough time to ask her many questions and take pictures of the unknown fruits and vegetables. Afterwards, we went to her restaurant where she showed us around and told us about her love for flowers and her dogs. We prepared all the ingredients for our menu before we started the actual cooking. We had so much fun with Pam and took pictures and videos to document all of her advices. The meals we cooked were absolutely delicious and enough to eat them again for dinner. I can only recommend to everybody to book a cooking class with Pam – this is a unique experience! Thanks Pam, for the lovely morning with you! 🙂
My friends and I had an amazing time shopping and cooking with Pam. We loved the market we shopped at for our vegetables and spices, it was a very authentic experience. Pam was so friendly and knowledgeable and the food she helped us make was exceptional and not just because we cooked it 🙂 Pams cooking utensils, knives and kitchen were clean and easy to use and her set up of the cooking space made it very easy for everyone to participate and enjoy all together. As to be expected it was hot in the kitchen but Pam had fans going and a fully stocked fridge of cold drinks including beers, softdrinks and water to help cool us down. Thanks to Pam we cooked a delicius meal and loved eating it the beautiful setting of Pam’s restaurant. I would highly recommend you book a class with Pam.
The day starts with Pam picking you up from your hotel and taking you to a local market… no tourists at this one it’s a local market for the local people and the colour and smells are an experience in themselves. You get to learn a bit about the ingredients and what they look and smell like and then it’s off back to Palms to start the prep work. You then get to prepare your chosen dishes under Pam’s instruction and guidance. You do everything from the prep to the cooking and then you get to sit outside and eat it. Handy hints on how to spice it up or down are also thrown in.Pam then boxes any leftovers for you to take with you and even drops you back at the hotel where you say goodbye and it’s like saying goodbye to an old friend.A great experience from start to finish and highly recommended.
Pam gave us the perfect cooking experience. Starting with a trip to the local market followed by welcome drinks in her beautiful oasis she calls her restaurant. The place is stunning with a beau full garden that you will love to walk around. Learning to cook from Pam was so much fun and of course keeping the beers flowing made everything even more enjoyable. We don’t know what we lived more, cooking the food in her nice specious, clean kitchen, or siting down and eating it.Loved every minute and would highly recommend anyone in the area to join. She even got out her personal jewelry box and sold us some lovely pieces! We were disappointed to hear that some previous guest had snubbed her when she took them to the local market. If you come to Thailand you must understand that Thai markets are perhaps a little more natural and lively than a highly sanitised European one… it’s why we love visiting and it’s part of what makes SE Asia so great to visit/experience!
It was an incredible 3.5 hours spent with Pam. She picked us up at our resort and drove us to the local market 20 minutes away. At the market, she took the time to walk the stalls and talk about local Thai produce. Not just the ingredients needed for the 4 dishes we picked from her wonderful menu, but anything we had questions about. We spent about 25 minutes walking the stalls, talking with merchants. Photos were a must. Once the ingredients were gathered, she drove us to her beautiful restaurant. Her tables are in her gardens, which are meticulously cared for.We then spent the next hour under her supervision while we prepared our 4 dishes. They were Massaman curry with beef, baked pineapple rice with chicken, fried shrimp cakes, and fried white snapper with tamarind sauce. It was a delightful experience, especially because you get to sit in the garden and enjoy the meal. The skills we learned working with Pam will come in handy when we replicate our efforts back home. It was a pleasant drive back to our resort. I wish I could give more than 5 stars.
Pams Thai cooking class. Absolutely brilliant fabulous lady fantastic facilities… picked up from hotel by Pam and took to market to see the ingredients that we would be using then back to her restaurant we cooked 4 dishes spring rolls pad Thai massaman curry and pineapple rice all fantastic then we sat down and ate it great half day experience
Excellent throughout Collected and met pam at the daily market and got to see where all the restaurants and hotes get there produce, pam showed and explained many of the thai veg, herbs, fruit, and their uses. This was excellent to get an understanding of the vast array of choices that thai people and cooking can select from.On arrival at pams for our cooking class, we was greeted again by pam with fresh beverages. Then, I was shown to pams fabulous cooking school studio. Perfectly laid out for teaching and catered very well for our group size.Pam helped us prepare all the veg, explaining how each dish may have the same ingredients but prepared differently. Then explained the cooking process for each dish, and assisted us with cooking. Then sat to enjoy the delicious food.Could not recommend highly enough pams for food or class.
Friends – 3 females and 1 male had a cooking class at Pam’s.OMG….what an experience. Pam picked us up at our resort, then took us to her local fresh food market where she shops every day for classes and her restaurant. We relaxed once we got to her restaurant with cold bottles of water. She then took us into the cooking class kitchen. It was super spacious, super clean and well set out. We chose 4 dishes to cook, which ended up being 5, with 2 variations of one recipe (one spicy and one not). Her instructions and advice was clear and we all enjoyed chopping, preparing, cooking and eating our dishes. Pam’s staff quietly cleaned and washed up behind us, leaving us to the best part. Cooking!!We then went into her restaurant to eat our dishes – which were plentiful together with more water. We could have had beer, cocktails or soft drink….all were on offer.I would highly recommend everyone to try her cooking class at least once.btw . the day we went was the day after she got married…..great honeymoon ???
Without any doubt the best thai restaurant we have ever been to.The food is incredible. An absolute must to anyone visiting khao lak.
