My girlfriend and I had a wonderful day, the hike was just long enough to not wear us out for the bike ride in the afternoon! It was full of interesting wildlife and stories from our tour guide (“Three”) about Thai culture and lifestyle. He was very attentive and always looked to see if we needed a break or had a question. The bike ride in the afternoon was a little tougher than expected, lots of hills! It did rain a little, but this really didn’t take away from the beautiful scenery and experience. Overall a great day!
I’ve toured with Northern Trails (Active Thailand) a few times over the last 3 weeks and found them to be exactly what I was looking for.The guides are very friendly and informative and the service they’ve provided has been great.I’ve visited some amazing places by foot and MTB, the trips have been well paced and some times quite challenging but always rewarding. It’s obvious to me when I travel with these guys that they really care for the environment they live in and for the culture of the peoples we’ve visited along the way.Mae Gnat valley, Mae Sa valley and Chiang Dao (3 days) these have all be great experiences. As a solo traveller travelling in the low season Northern Trails have gone out of their way to help my plans come to life; greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Called them on last moment to take a hiking trip and they were so accommodating. They also offered us a hiking backpack. Everything went smooth. We hiked for a total of around 5 hours with lots of breaks. The hike was very moderate and can be done by anyone, any age. The very experience guide Tan and his trainee Nick were very nice. Tan stopped many times to explain about the things we met on the trail: trees, plants, villages, tribes, cultural etc. We visited two villages and passed by tribal ladies picking tea leaves, etc. it was an authentic experience. Not one of those tourist’s trap. Water, lunch and snacks were provided by the organizers. I had a beer in the village during lunch break. It was the best beer in a long time. The weather was great. It was way cooler than Chiang Mai and we were lucky that it did not rain. The views of Chiang Dao and Si Lanna (Sri Lan Na) were amazing. I highly recommend this hike and this operator. P.S we would have been so lost without guides. We don’t recommend you to do it on your own. Thanks to Tan and Nick.
Myself and a mate went on the trek and mountain bike tour Our guide Three was fantastic and by far the best guide we have had I would highly recommend these guys to anyone
Loved every minute of the hike and bike. The tour guides in both the cycling and the hiking were great. They were very informative and friendly. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone.
Today we took part in the Hike and Bike and we would highly recommend it. The transportation was excellent, tour group size was perfect, the guide Goi was great, lunch and snacks were delicious and the driver Mai was good. But most of all it was awesome to trek through Thailand’s jungle and cycle through it’s villages & rice fields.
We decided to do the Hike & Bike tour and could not recommend it enough. It was well organised from the beginning and our guide, Pan, was informative and funny, giving us a real insight into the geography and history of the Mae Sa valley and pointing out the different fruit & crops along the way.The hike was 5km, which was through a jungle and while not intense there were a few climbs but the views were worth it! Following a delicious Thai lunch to refuel, we got on our bikes for a 20km bike ride through villages and rice fields. The pace wasn’t arduous and we regularly stopped for snacks, water and photo ops. I would definitely recommend this if you are looking to do something different and see a part of Thailand that you don’t see on the usual tourist trails.
In January we did the hike and bike and the Mae Nhat valley cycling tours – we were wonderfully looked after both days by Goy and his assistants. I would highly recommend this to you. L
We booked a day trip – orchid/butterfly farm, Karen long-neck tribe visit, Elephant ride, White water/Bamboo rafting, Trekking to the waterfalls. A simple lunch was included. The outing was enjoyable. Arrangements made was good. Lek at the Northern Trails office was very helpful and accommodating.
We did the High Mountain Trekking tour today. Our guide Three was fantastic. He told us lots of things about the jungle and Thailand in general. He was super nice, talkative and spoke English well. The tour was about 4 h hiking. We started at 1200 m and then it was mostly flat or downhill. Views were great and we liked the forest even though it seemed to be secondary jungle. All of this was as we were told and we returned very satisfied.Anyone looking for the northern trails office at city cafe, note that it has recently closed down.
