Went to Shamrock Cafe when i heard the live music from the streets and struggled to leave after than, we went 3 nights in a row after that.i was shocked to see how much different songs they knew. easily over 150 just from what i saw, they take requests too. would highly reccommend. and we went out for drinks with them after the show too. will definetly be going back to see them in the future.
While the Filipino band is friendly and energetic, their musical capability is poor. Surely not worth the visit to Lamai (from Chewang). As for the the Shamrock cafe, the environment is nice though there’s not enough ventilation as you move further inside. The food is acceptable but expensive. I guess part of the cost pays for the band.
I’ve seen many Filipino bands (my fiancee is Filipina from Samar and I travel there a lot!) and most play more pop ballads and easy listening, but these guys ROCK HARD. Guitarist Baby from Davao is clearly the star with amazing charisma AND talent, but the whole band is tight. They smile a lot and seem to love playing, not to mention a 3 hour set with no breaks. Robert Smith of the Cure is the only singer I’ve seen who can sing for hours without a break but they are damn close, albeit taking turns. And this was on a night, last night, when they were all sick and far from their best according to Baby. Each member sings lead on different songs. The drummer’s voice sounds amazingly similar to Don Henley, not so much like Mark Knopfler. The guitar work by Baby on the Dire Straights covers was top notch. I’d add some more Eagles/Henley songs for drummer. The female lead singer showed up an hour late but was great on Led Zeppelin’s Rock and Roll and on Evanesce covers. AC/DC too, although a female voice is a tad hard to fathom when Bon Scott’s voice was so manly. Can’t recommend these guys highly enough. Tip them well as surely their salary is paltry (This is Thailand!)
A must see if your in Lamai and enjoy a live band. Amazing guitarist! Awesome song list – request what you like!
great atmosphere…. Brazil !!!! Put a red flag up and they stop bringing the food to you. Change the flag to green and the y keep coming.
Have nothing good to say. Their performance literally gave me a headache and made me leave early. I was not happy.
Brilliant fun and well worth seeing. Saw them two nights before Songkran and the night after Songkran. They were superb the first time I saw them and great the second. Performance was diminished slightly because I imagine they were pretty hung over still fron Songkran celebrations (You try performing on new years day? Not easy). But they were still awesome and to answer some negative reviews… all great bands have off days, any band that doesn’t party as hard as it performs isn’t worth listening to, but these guys still get up there and play their hearts out no matter what.
They pump out the music, alot of the time, several nights in a row and don’t lose any enthusiasm in the performance. It’s mostly Dad rock type stuff, which reflects the general clientele, mostly people 30+ which is fine by me. I like the dire straits stuff, not easy to play that on guitar. Great band. Go see. They’re free at the Shamrock, Had Lamai Road, Lamai, Koh Samui
You guys are awesome! One of the best Cover Bands I’ve ever seen. The whole variety of styles is incredible and all the songs are perfect. Think it is great that every band member sings the song that fits him or her best. Must see!!Miss you guys already
I love this band. I used to see them every night a few years ago but I was just at Shamrocks and they were not there ? I want to see them again. I wish I knew where they are?
