BJJ instruction is at a very high level, very friendly and welcoming team, with a great variety of belts training of every level. I found the cardio level of the people training to be at a very high level as most of the people are doing Muay Thai and MMA all day long. They have Gi twice on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and once on Tuesdays and Thursdays, none on weekends. Illtotly be going back there as often as possible.
BJJ class was alright, the techniques taught were very good but mats were very very slippery during class during rolling . however, most people were friendly and helpful but the class size was a little too big. Lady at the counter wasn’t very nice though, did not go through the prices and was grumpy.
Brazilian guy on reception was great welcomed me into class there is an awful woman on or near reception who’s role seems to be one of screaming rudeness a rather abrupt lady whom I can only think is unhappily married and in the middle of a menopause screaching like a banshee at every opportunity. I left what was left of my money with her , no refunds , if they did I suspect more people would leave to go somewhere else the place was quite crowded and attention was not as it should be , the place has now become a. brand name. less passion , more cash the trainers are good guys doing their best but I won’t be training there again bjj in particular is for comradeship being with the guys helping each other achieve it should be friendly and welcoming , not with this old crone. good luck chaps. I do feel rather sorry for her husband poor bugger.
Really nice facility. Good trainers and friendly staff. Will go back to train here, I only did 3 days as I got totally scammed by Asia Muay Thai in rawai.
I’m really disappointed with this gym. It’s my first day in Phuket and a friend recommended this gym as a very good one. The training was really good even if think they were too many people. After the training I looked for my flip flops and they were gone! Someone stole it and the manager was really rude, didn’t even try to find a solution to replace it or to find and watch who took it on the video camera. My hotel is 15 minutes away walking. I had to stole myself some shoes because I can’t walk barefoot. Worst experience ever!
The trainers and workouts for the Muay Thai classes and boxing classes are really good. You get pads, bag work, sparring, clinching and drilling technique. A lot of the reviews talk about the front desk being bad, my suggestion is just to stay away and stay on the mats to do what you came to do.
If you’re looking for the best BJJ in Phuket, PTT is definitely the place to go. The morning professor Olavo, extremely experienced, owns 5 “grau” is open minded, world widely renowned, extra friendly, very welcoming and pays great attention to details. Evening professors vary, they tend to be younger, rising stars grapplers, always professional and passionate. There is an average of three black belts on the mat everyday, and visitors coming from all over the world. The mats are cleaned between classes and the classes start on time. There is a 20/25 minutes long, intense warm – up, lessons are well structured, part of a continuum and the Professor can spend weeks exploring variations from the same position. The first rolls can be described as “specific training” Stay in Phuket Top Team for a couple if weeks and you’ll make lifelong BJJ connections. I 200 % recommend this place ❤️
In-depth, honest, and very thorough review. Please read carefully! In a nutshell:Definitely not worth it. Both owners (the disrespectful man & the nasty weird woman) are money-hungry disrespectful excuses of human beings. I have text messages as evidence of how those suckers ripped me off, and have come to find out that they have been known to scam. STAY THE F AWAY from those losers. About the gym: The gym is nasty, they say they clean, but what they clean is the floor only and nothing else. Pads and punching bags have more bacteria than a hospital floor. They have two rings, one is totally messed up, 50% of the floor is ripped. The weights that they have is rustier than the titanic. About the trainers: Very sweet, friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. The ONLY good thing.Nonetheless the bad FAR OUTWEIGH the good.Very In-depth:For clarity —> Boyd will be addressed as loser—> Kannika will be addressed as weirdo. Since January I was planning on traveling to Thailand to further my Muay Thai capabilities. I’ve been practicing and teaching Muay Thai for 5 years. So I thought to go to the motherland to perfect it. I emailed a bunch of gyms across Thailand, but decided for Phuket Top Team, because I liked how they emailed back and because of their website. Fast forward to June 28th, I’m in Phuket. June 30th, I take a stroll to check it out and let them know that I’m there. I enter and -according to other reviews, the woman is a freaking crazy weirdo. I always give the benefit of the doubt, because maybe other people were just disrespectful to her- holy f, SHE is a disrespectful, inconsiderate, money hungry, crazy fool indeed! I said something along the lines of “KhobKhunKap, I emailed with you or Boyd, for the one-year program” She didn’t greet me or anything, the first question was “did you pay” that should’ve been a red flag but I thought “ah well a business gotta survive” (now I sure as hell hope, that those deepthroaters fail and lose everything). I told her nicely that I paid a deposit for a room but that I won’t be staying there, because I found an apartment. So I paid the difference ~ 78,000 thb. For a total of ~ 98,000 thb. I told her, however, that I would much rather pay in three month increments (loser told me that that was possible) but weirdo was adamant that I must pay for the full year. I know what you, dear reader, are thinking, I should’ve stuck to my feeling and being like well either three month increments or byeee. I know that I should’ve… now. However, I didn’t. Anyway after having paid for the full year, weirdo’s demeanor changed and she got friendly. She showed me around nicely and then I told her that I’ll be starting on the 1st of July. Come July 1st, I get there and this is THE ONLY GOOD THING about PTT. The Muay Thai trainers! May they all be blessed and find success. They are all very sweet, caring, knowledgeable, smart, and funny. They deserve so much better than whatever loser and weirdo offer. I trained and liked the intensity of it, it wasn’t really hard for me as I’ve been doing it for a while but I did enjoy it. Two days later I said I would like a scooter. Weirdo said that she would have one after the afternoon class. After the afternoon class, she said I will have one tomorrow morning’s class. After the next morning’s class, she said she would have one after the afternoons’ class. Thanks to weirdo, I had to take a cab 3 times because she can’t get her stuff right. Anyhoo she finally produced a scooter and gave it to me. It’s about to get juicy!!!Day 5 I realized the mistake of me having paid for the full year right away instead of three month increments because now I can’t afford the ED-Visa that PTT offers. However, I had an idea and I thought that they may be understanding and sensible human beings, so let’s ask! My idea was that weirdo would cut my training from one year to six months, and with that money she could pay for my ED-Visa. Then when I worked, I’d make money and pay back for one year. I must have explained it three times as clearly and slowly as possible. Weirdo said “ka ka no problem”. She said to bring her my passport on the 14th of July so that she can get me the visa. A week later I started getting a skin infection. Mind you I was only at home in my hotel and there at the gym. NO WHERE ELSE. My hotel / apartment complex is the nicest and cleanest thing ever (check it out: Homa Phuket). My arms were covered in what seemed hives. They were itchy and painful. I told weirdo that I should take a week off to protect others since I don’t know if that is contagious, she just said “ka”. I came in tho to just sit there and watch. I noticed two more dudes with hives all over them. One of the dudes was completely covered in it that poor thing. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to deduct that PTT is hella nasty. They clean the floor and that is it. Obviously everyone is responsible for their own cleanliness and hygiene. However, how about cleaning the bags and equipment as well, since dozens of people touch ‘em? Ah well that is whatever, I figured different country, maybe the air as well, whatever. I luckily didn’t have it as bad as the one who was completely covered. Day 27 rolls around, I go up to weirdo to retrieve my passport, she says tomorrow. 28th, I go up to retrieve my passport she says tomorrow. Even though that was the day where my visa expired. I told her that, but she said that she’s still trying to get me my visa. I thought that is kind of odd to why it’s taking so long, but I’m a trusting and optimistic human, so I shall remain optimistic and trust you. A week later! She said tomorrow. I show up the following day and she wasn’t even there. An old injury of mine started flaring up again, nerves at the tibialis anterior. Even though I got the clear from doctors that I can train! I told weirdo that I should rest for a bit cuz otherwise it just gets worse, instead of saying ah dang ok! She said “ah always problems with you!” And stormed off. I stood there thinking mothereffing forknugget, because of your nasty gym I got hives and because of whatever the fork, my nerves were thinking the right shin hurts so what do you want? But I figured not to say anything, she may just be having a bad day. So now I’m bedridden with no passport. Three days later, I go in to just ask about the passport situation (not to train, since I can’t.) she said she’ll have it next week. We are now in mid August. I come in next week, but she wasn’t there, I text her on messenger, she reads it but doesn’t respond. I come in the following days until the end of August. Always the same sh*t. Either next day or next week. I have lots of patience but I was starting to get worried and annoyed being jerked around. My shin was getting worse, everything was starting to fall apart. It seemed like I should head home. I told weirdo (teary eyed! Cuz I don’t want to leave?!?!!!!!) she said to tell loser (Boyd) he handles finances. Funny, I thought I paid you ^^ because I haven’t even seen loser at all since being here. But aight I copied off the number, it didn’t work, I found him on IG, I texted him. He responded right away, I explained my situation, he told me to meet up with him to discuss a possible refund as they can refund for health related issues, according to an email he sent me months before. Now I was supposed to meet with loser, and weirdo was supposed to give me my passport back. Both didn’t happen. A week later I kindly reminded loser about the meeting HE set up. He gave me a different date, but again the same thing. I’m starting to see what they like in each other. They are both inconsiderate, dumb, money-hungry motherpunchers. Back to the passport issues that now I’m getting sick of and just telling Weirdo to screw the refund, screw everything, just please give me back my passport so that I can leave. She then said so no one year? I said nah I can’t anymore, just get me whatever visa you can and keep all the money. So she said I will get you three month visa, come back next week. I come back the next week but of course nothing. THEN FINALLY September 15th she gives me back my passport. I open it to NO freaking VISA. I overstayed 54 days because of this nasty poopeaters negligence. Weirdo’s excuse: “Phuket wouldn’t give me a visa, so she sent it to Isan” Loser’s excuse (per IG, since I never saw his ugly mug): I didn’t pay for the visa and I never came to pick up my passportBoth methheads lying through their teeth. LUCKILY I have video evidence of Kannika lying like a dungbeetle and Boyd being untrue like a poopeater. I talked to a local friend of mine who has friends in the police and they said yea they scammed you, at the immigration office at the airport (since I was forced to leave) the officer was totally understanding, read the message thread and watched the video and was horrified by how they scammed me. He even jotted down their information, I don’t know if he ever did something but alone the fact that EVERYBODY was appalled by how they handled my situation, shows me that I’m in the right and those leeches are in the wrong. I basically lost $2650 ($2,120 for the one year training & $550 for overstay charge) Kannika and Boyd see no fault, don’t accept any wrong doing and refused to refund me whatsoever, they didn’t give me back a dime. Now that’s good business :D. I hope that those poop sniffers will fail miserably. Do yourself, your friends, family, and even your enemies a favor and STAY AWAY from them. If you would like to see the video and/or the messages, let me know.
