I have always wanted to take a balloon ride. The staff was very professional and really knew what they were doing. My friends and I felt very comfortable from beginning to end. Our pilot kindly answered our many questions. We had plenty of time to take pictures and just enjoy the scenery, plus the sunrise was spectacular. It was about 2 hours from beginning to end and well worth every dollar! I can’t think of anything I didn’t like.
I decided to surprise my girlfriend with a hot air ballon ride. Then I double surprised her with a mid air proposal. It was a great trip. So smooth and calm. It was amazing. Makes you forget you are actually 2000 feet in the air. Highly recommend!

It has always been a dream of mine to take a balloon ride over a beautiful city. This opportunity in Chiang Mai was unlike another. It was easy to book and I loved that there was a pick up and drop off option as you do get up very early in the morning. When you arrive they offer you coffee and you watch your balloon inflate. Then you do an incredible ride and see the landscape of Chiang Mai. Our instructor was informative and so very friendly. The ride is smooth and not scary. You can wave to all the locals and our instructor would circle the balloon so we could see all sides of the landscape. He even brought his go pro and too photos for us 🙂 When we landed it was smooth, and easy. The ride back to the resort for champagne and breakfast. It was a day to remember. The only suggestion I would have for this company is that there should be a limit of WAITING time when picking others up. I was ready at my 5;45 am call, when we picked up the second person we waited 30 minutes and still they did not show. I was late to arrival for the balloon inflation and coffee experience because this person did not show. I think they could better the situation by indicating that if you are not ready within the 15 minutes of pick up….they will not wait. I would have loved to not feel stressed and rushed to the location because I did pay a lot of money for the experience!
Made booking online and paid after confirmation. Email communication was quick and efficient.Weather forecast seemed to be horrid on booked day, but was able to move booking a day ealier, again by email.Minibus arrived at 5:15am and picked up another passenger and set off for balloon departure point. Coffee or tea was available. Watching the balloons being inflated was amazing. Andre, the pilot, wasn’t happy with something so reset the whole thing. After reinflation we boarded (4 of us) and with a long blast of heat we ascended.Andre then told us that he had built 2 of the balloons being used. This is what he does now after ‘retiring’.The views are stunning as tge world drifts silently below. The only noise (and heat) comes from the burners.On landing, you are returned to the depart point by minibus and a champagne reception. After breakfast you return back home on the minibus you arrived on.Fantastic experience. Thanks Andre.
The early morning balloon ride itself provided a nice view and it was well organised. The scenery is pleasant to watch, but it does not change much during the one hour flight over the flat area of land east of Chiang Mai.What I did not like was the complete inflexibility on the pricing. When paying such a premium price, I would expect a better and more personal level of customer service.What happened?There was an offer in the Bangkok post with a package of an overnight stay at the hotel where the balloons take off from, including breakfast and of course the balloon ride. All for THB 8000.We already had accomodation elsewhere in Chiang Mai, which included breakfast, so we only needed the balloon ride, which I expected to cost less than the package. Unfortunately, neither calling nor writing did any good. It was a simple matter of: “Take it, or leave it”, which meant we had to pay the regular price of THB 8800 per person, just for the balloon ride. I did not want to risk loosing the reservation by making a booking for the complete package and then only showing up the next morning for the balloon ride, so I paid. – But I’m reluctant to recommend this company under these circumstances.
First time to see the sunrise in the balloon, a little bit fear at the beginning balloon take off, no matter what, all worth it. The staff is nice, send the driver to pick us up from the hotel in the morning and send back, the breakfast is good the whole experience is amazing
It may have been just a bad day for the company, but this was definitely not a pleasant experience.It was a private flight, the flight itself was O.K., nothing much to see, but, for unknown and unexplained reasons, the pilot decided to land the balloon somewhere on the edge of a marsh! As it was obvious that we could not get out of the basket, a few more shots of hot air were then sent into the balloon plus some guys on the ground pooling us with some ropes and we inched to solid ground. After that, nothing…… We had to wait there, in the middle of nowhere, for longer than the flight itself, perhaps an hour or more, until the crew came. We had to wait until the basket was loaded on a truck and only then we got in a car that drove for quite a while until we got back to base … Why did we have to land there, why there was no coordination with the ground crew and why did we have to wait so long?! I’ve been on balloon flights before, once in Bagan and twice in Sossuswlei, but this was nothing like those flights – very far from it… It was simply not a pleasant experience …
Me and my wife were always looking for this adventure and had plan to do it in Turkey. However, ever since we know this can also be done in Chiang Mai, we kept in our list for this Thailand trip.We have done this with Balloon Adventure Thailand and they are the first started this balloon ride under the thai aviation license. I contact with Peach and she is so helpful that you cant imagine. Very prompt and helpful. My daughters were scared to stay back alone in the hotel. So we took them with us and they nicely stayed with them. The van picked up from hotel by 5.45 and its around 20/25 mins drive to Balloon Clubhouse at Horizon village and resort. They offered free refreshments like juice, cake, tea/coffee, sandwiches and biscuit. After a short brief by peach of do’s and don’ts, soon we started the journey with a professional pilot. We were around 2000M up from the ground. The view was magnificent and the silence was peaceful. We tried to release our stress up there! The going up was very smooth but landing gave us bit trouble due to the wind direction. But our pilot is very experienced that we had a very good landing in a filed, but far from main road. But crews reach there before we land and make ways to take the basket near to the road. This professionalism just amazed me. Later we celebrated our flight with drinks. And got our certificate. Amazing from start to finish.Hotel pick up as promised and delivered to Balloon Adventure base. Offered coffee and breakfast. Advised of flight times.Taken out to airfield and watched balloon being filled. Lovely smooth flight, sadly very misty so didn’t get to see much of the sunrise.Smooth landing and transported back to base. Only 2 of us on our flight so we were offered champagne to take back with us. Photos taken at the start and take off of our flight sent to my phone. Was an amazing experience and a very smoothly run operation. Would highly recommend.
