Hippo Divers is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking , 83130, Thailand
I originally went with Hippo Divers for a Fun dive the first time I went to Phi Phi Island on vacation. It was amazing. We originally didn’t plan to go diving as my girlfriend and I have never done so. But we talked to a diving spot, thought about it, and were convinced to go but decided too late as they had fully booked. I went early in the morning to see if anyone had cancelled but nobody had.We then decided to walk around for a bit and found Hippo Divers. I asked about being able to dive, and they said they had a spot for the next day, but we were going to leave to catch the ferry so would not have enough time. As I was already convinced of wanting to go, we asked if we could go right then and there, and they made it happen. They quickly prepared gear for us, got us some food for lunch, and we ended up diving that day. I was so happy with the experience, as we had a great instructor, the water was beautiful, and they accommodated to our rushed schedule. A year later, we decided to return to Phi Phi to dive once again with Hippo divers. We again had an excellent instructor, who gave us a good amount of freedom as we had done pretty well with all of the safety exercises and were able to swim pretty well underwater without too much guidance. I especially like the fact that they let you move a bit on your own without holding you. I had gone scuba a couple of days before that with another company on Raya Island, but the instructor basically taxi’ed us around and didn’t let us swim freely at all. I didn’t enjoy that at all, although the water was beautiful. I would totally recommend Hippo Divers as both times we went, the staff was awesome, friendly, and accommodating. The only regret was that we didn’t get to see a shark. Next time maybe.Me and my girlfriend are now planning to get our Open Water Diver license as diving has become a new love of ours.
Nice and captivating at the time of making the booking, the two French instructors Fabian and John changed attitude radically at the time of the excursion.We were supposed to start in shallow water for some briefing and exercises but they surprisingly just skept that and put us directly in deep water.The other guy who was with me panicked and vomited under water and after the end of his traumatic first dive he quit and missed the second one, which he had paid for. Fabian could not care less, he did not even go and see if the guy had recovered at the end of the excursion. Regarding myself, the mask I was given was damaged (They acknowledged that only after the first dive and changed it for the second one) so I spent the whole first dive continuously expelling the water which kept filling my mask, really unpleasant. I could not enjoy the second dive either, because of problems with balancing the pressure (Very painful) while Fabian was careless walking me around as dog. The worst part is that my partner did not dive but had paid for snorkelling during my dives, however incredibly she was not allowed to snorkel in the end.When she rightfully claimed her money back, the instructors blamed the captain (We were sold a fake snorkelling trip by them, not by the captain!) and neither took any responsibility nor offer any compensation at all.This is a funny one: While listening to our complaints, John pretended to be horrified by the fact that my partner was not allowed snorkelling and literally run away saying he was going to confront the captain about that straight away. Believe it or not, it was just a theatrical excuse to escape from us, he did not even go to talk to the captain and he never came back to us.We look forward to hearing what sort of creative response they will give to this review, considering they have shown some good skills at this regard.
I’m a dive master but my friend had never dove before. Chad took great care of her and we all dove together at an amazing dive site. We loved it!
We had a great experience with the Hippo Divers team while in Thailand. They were very prepared and offered a great experience. Staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. The experience includes lunch – – recommend you pick the sandwich options rather than the noodle options as they bring the food on the boat in the morning and the noodles were cold by the time we ate them.
We wanted a private snorkeling tour and discussed the possibilities with Hippo divers. It didn’t take them long to book us a private longboat that could leave early the next morning to all the spots we wanted to go. Not in their control, but the snorkeling trip was great as we spotted a blacktip reefshark, two turtles, a underwatersnake and a moray eel. The snorkeling equipment provided by Hippo divers was up to standard and was all we needed. Would book again with them if I came back to Koh Phi Phi Don.
Laura from New Zealand is the best! I had to take down my prior post because I had the incorrect name. This was my first time diving and Laura made me feel very comfortable. Unfortunately I was only able to complete one dive. My ear was hurting during my second dive so I couldn’t complete a full dive. I was lucky enough to see a black tip shark during my dive. Please ask for Laura, Laura is the nicest. She will make you feel very comfortable.

My wife and I booked a trip for diving.she did not get on the boat after seing the boat and the staff did not even care the customers. it was like we shared a boat with a bunch of friends that cared the equipment more then us. they supposed to be the teachers and we are the guests but I have never seen thıs kınd of amatour. I wish i did not get on the boat like my wife did. we were carried like life stock. no one even bothered to tell where the food is, I suppose we were the food ☺️ the undersea of the island is great but you should choose the school wisely. I even did not do the second dive because i couldnt trust these amatours . no more hippo! Keep away!
it was great experience over with hippo drivers very well managed and vwey planned trip. everyone must try!!!
