River Rovers is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 83130, Thailand
One of the top experiences I’ve had on a tour. The monkey jungle cruise was so much fun for our family. Kayaking the mangroves, feeding the monkeys, seeing a working fish farm a deserted island and diving off the boat were all amazing and such a yummy lunch on board the small boat. If you want something off the beaten path this is your tour.
We traveled to Phuket with another couple and did a private tour with River Rovers to Phang Nga Bay onboard a traditional Longsail. It was a blast! One of the highlights of our trip for sure. I loved that River Rovers was willing to work with us on a customized itinerary. Our group of four was picked up at our hotel on time in a very nice air conditioned van and taken about an hour north of Pataong Beach to pick up our tour. We were greeted by a wonderful tour guide he goes by Meow. Meow was truly incredible! She could not have been nicer and more accomodating. Our itinerary included Phang Nga Bay National Park, cruise through the Mangroves, a delicious lunch at Sea Gypsy Village and kayaking through caves. The beauty we saw during this tour was mind blowing. The caves were out of this world. I highly recommend River Rovers and if you decide to do this tour ask for Meow. You’ll love her.
We booked (family of 6) a private tour combining the monkey tour with the visit of some remote islands spots. It was a great experience, Gordon is very helpful, we had a great crew making this trip very enjoyable. We want to see and feed monkeys and had a nice afternoon kayaking, snorkeling, swimming and exploring sports with no mass tourism. We would recommend River Rovers!
I hired River Rovers to take my sister and me on a boat tour around Phang Nga Bay in Phuket, and we had an amazing time. I loved how most of the crew on the boat are women, who took great pride in their work and took very good care of us from start to finish. It was a long day that started from 9am til 5pm, and my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Only thing that could be better is the lunch: the tour included a stop at a “floating restaurant” serving mediocre food, and we would have liked to have a different option or just have a pre-ordered packed lunch. Other than this, I highly recommend River Rovers!
We booked three island trips before arriving in Thailand. One with River Rovers and two with other bigger companies. All three were within $10-20 USD difference per person so about the same price. The one with River Rovers (Phang Nga Through The Backdoor) was by far the best. We regretted not knowing better and just booking them all with this company.We used the suggested pricing on their website for a group of 4 (I think it came out to a little around $115 USD/person). It was great to be just the 4 of us on a longtail (which was very comfortable) instead of a speedboat packed with people like sardines. Our tour guide, Meow, was the sweetest and most helpful person I met in all of Thailand. She did everything in her power to make sure we were having fun while still not being overbearing or intruding on our little trip.We first stopped at a little beach where we were the only ones there. Then (I can’t remember the exact order) we explored caves, went sea kayaking, explored a mangrove forrest, saw tons of bats, saw the beautiful limestone and stalagmites and stalactites, ate a delicious lunch at a restaurant at the Muslim gypsy village on stilts (beautiful village and lunch was included in cost), and swam at a small beach we had all to ourselves. Meow was fun, informative, and flexible the whole time. She gave us options of what to do and let us customize our own experience. We could stay as long or short as we liked at each stop. She even took a ton of pictures of us on her own phone and Whatsapp messaged them to us later just because she is that great. We so appreciated her and she really made our trip the best possible.Gordon, the owner, emailed us the day before to ask if we were beer drinkers. I told him that a few of us were so the had some beers on the boat for us to enjoy as we cruised the sea. They also had plenty of water and some soft drinks as well as some fruit and chips for us to munch on throughout the day.This company is running exceptional tours. I don’t know how they aren’t the most sought after tour. I didn’t find any other private tour online for this price. I can’t say enough about how professional, kind, and fun they were with us.
We had a fantastic day aboard river rovers! Unfortunately Bernard was not available to join us, but his wife Palita was a wonderfully friendly, funny and kind host.The boat is slow, very slow – so if you want to roar around the seas this is not for you…. however if you want a beautifully peaceful experience on the water, visiting secluded beaches, snorkelling, kayaking and generally pottering around, then it is perfect.We were a group of 3 – two do not like to be in the sun, and the covered part of the bot was perfect. I however love the sun, and could sit on the roof and enjoy the journey from there. Lunch was absolutely delicious, and plentiful – how Palita prepared it in the tiny kitchen I have no idea! And soft drinks, water and beer were readily available.One of our group was a little nervous snorkelling and going on the kayaks- and the captain was incredible – he took her under his wing, guiding her with what to do so that she could fully enjoy all of the experiences that the trip had to offer. Feeding the monkeys was a highlight – when we were presented with a huge bag of food to feed them from the Kyaks. An unforgettable experience.Thank you so much to Palita and her crew for a beautiful day – and Bernard for all of your help in organising it.
We had a lovely half-day trip with our daughters 3 and 5 years old. Everything was perfect, kids were happy: they were kayaking with us and playing with members of staff at the boat. Together we caught a big fish on our way to the kayaking place and in the evening cooked it together at home.Bernard and Polita are great hosts.
Have been on a few of these now but still find the views amazing and every trip is a bit different, this trip though the canoe trip was awesome as usual but no hassling from the guides like happens in many tours. They never asked for anything and where very friendly, always tip more for the ones that don’t hassle 🙂 The onboard entertainment was hillarious, and everyone in our group had a great time. Ages ranged from 21 to 70’s
Been in Chalong for over a week. Still cannot find these people. Reviews look good, want to book BUT. How to find them. Both Google map locations are a bust. Asking around people say they have not seen this company for a long time. Guess they are out of business. Pity we wanted to book with them.
We have done a few trips with Gordon from River Rovers and they were fantastic. I have been tryint to contact them as I will be in Phuket Nov 2022 but no reply to email and the phone just rings out. I think they may have closed down.
