We have visited Khao Lak for 3 years now and have enjoyed a couple of nights at the Muay Thai. Yes it is a little ‘rustic’ but that is what adds to the experience. It is authentic, not a tourist attraction but a local Friday night out which we have felt privileged to be welcomed to enjoy. Yes there is a ‘pricing structure’ that differs depending upon ‘tourist’ or ‘local’ attendance but what do you expect? I wouldn’t expect locals to pay high prices to experience their own culture in their own town, so we have no problem paying what is asked as a tourist. Really recommended.
My girlfriend bought us tickets for my birthday, we had a great evening. The atmosphere is very family friendly, the fights are good quality. It starts at 9 and finishes at 11pm, we had dinner at the local market beforehand (Build Market, a hidden gem in the area)We paid 1,300 baths to be ringside but the stadium is tiny so it doesn’t really matter if your not. A good night but two different prices ( locals & tourists) , 1000 for seven fights .Shame there was only one adult fight , for that money I would expect all seven to have been adults .
Seems an authentic Thai experience and I would recommend going for that reason but don’t expect too much. Of the 7 matches I saw only 1 was with adults. It was nice to see the boxers do the whole Muay Thai ceremony and the venue is very basic and adds to the authenticity. Taxis wait outside to take you home but overcharge a bit so barter them down.
Decided to have a night at the local Muay thai stadium after being handed a leaflet in town. 1300 bht for a ringside seat .Entered thinking it would be stage managed and could not be more wrong. Full blown Armageddon 7 bouts one stopped three Ko,s. well worth a visit.
I was not sure what to expect, I am not a big boxing fan in general. However really enjoyed the night. I think the fact that they started with younger fighters including girls helped. I felt it was an authentic experience and well worth a visit. The tickets were expensive as a tourist but if these means we are funding the the gym including the kids then I have no problem with it.
We had a great night. Really enjoyed the experience and we liked the authenticity/tradition of the organized fights. Also great to see the young ones fight as well as adults.
We were a bit hesitant about booking tickets for this, but we were all pleasantly surprised at how graceful & skilful it was.Saw a total of eight bouts, which we all thoroughly enjoyed, and I was pleased to see how each boxer checks his opponent at the end of the bout to make sure they are okay.Would definitely go again and highly recommend.
Absolutely brilliant. We’ve booked to go again. Great atmosphere. Good length of time. All seats have a good view. Very entertaining. Mix of tourists and locals. Very hot! Drinks cheap. Great night out!
I can hear by myself one evening. Paid 30 usd for the ringside seat, which got me a free t shirt and drink as well. It was well worth the price. Never sat so close to the action before! Great experience. There were a variety of fighters of varying degrees of skill. They all gave great effort. Good time!
