  1. Overall it was as much as I wanted to see and do for this kind of tour. We did the “hard” hike, and let me tell you–don’t take that description lightly. If you don’t regularly go hiking, you will find it challenging. But the views were more than worth it. Our guide, Ae, was a character and really made the trip special, adding his flare of personality and humor to the experience. We saw monkeys in the early morning, and he had the right amount of energy to keep me half awake after a rough night’s sleep (see below). The food was a bit bland for my tastes, but that’s because I’ve lived in Thailand for 5 years, so I’ve had really quality food. It seemed they were cooking to accommodate groups of Western tongues, which tend to be shy on the spicy food, so I get why the food was a bit bland. It was still good for what it was, though, and after a day hiking in the heat and a morning squinting to find monkeys in the trees, it hits the spot anyway. So here’s a warning. The floating bungalows are bare bones. Not only will you be roughing it in a bamboo and grass structure with only a window for ventilation in the heat (luckily it cools off quite a bit at night), but all the bungalows are fixed to the plank-dock walkways. That means that every time anyone walks down these pathways, you will feel it. And since the toilet is a separate community-shared structure centrally located in the facility, every guest’s visit to the toilet is felt and heard by all. Between the drunk idiots chortling and shouting until midnight, the late-night toilet excursions, and the bullfrogs croaking into the night, don’t expect to get much sleep. Just remember: it’s just one night!Overall, my father, wife and I were pleased with the experience and would all recommend it. You’ll never see scenery like that which surrounds Ratchaprapha Lake, so nature is really the draw here.

  2. Khao Sok Lake trip from Khao Sok village. A little expensive in comparison to other Thailand trips. Good short trek, caves visit and fantastic views but most of time spent at small floating restaurant for lunch and afternoon. Although you could kayak for free.

  3. Was a mid experience. Starting with the itinerary… we were suppose to visit caves and be taken for a swim we got neither. We got taken on a hike which was ok… but wasn’t given and option to do the cave. Also, the other groups went to do the cave and our request got denied. All participants of the group wanted to do the cave rather than the hike. Anyway, moving on our tour guide was useful had lots of information and was very engaging. However, we have just returned back from our tour. We went as a group of three… we have all ended up with a severe fever and sickness and stomach cramps. We tried to email the company but got pinged back with denied. We ate nothing but the food served to us the past two days, used bottled water. Unless the lake water is contaminated as we were swimming in it… However, not only us we met two other ladies later that day on our boat to our next stop who had just finished and we’re throwing up as well!!

  4. The trip was exactly as presented to us, only shame was that it rained a lot during our stay and so we and our clothes were wet for 3 days.Still, we enjoyed swimming in the lake, kayaking and stand up paddle.Visits around the lake were peaceful but we didn’t see many animals.Chuen was a super guide, very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and fun. You need to be prepared to eat Thai food for every meal (breakfast we did have pancakes however!).

  5. We had the most amazing time with Khao Sok Lake. We booked the 2 day 1 night package in a modern comfort bungalow. The accommodation was basic but the scenery was stunning. 360° of breathtaking views. We were well looked after by our guide and the jungle trek and boat rides led us to explore a cave, see multiple monkeys and birds and we were lucky enough to even spot elephants.A trip to be remembered for all the right reasons. If you love nature, you’ll love it here.

  6. We opted for Khao Sok Lake Tours and it was the worst experience ever! From the beginning to the end it was just bad with a late driver, a scatty tour guide who was unhelpful to say the least, unsanitary, kept disappearing and definitely wasn’t completely sober. To then arrive at the bungalows and be told that there was only 5 bungalows and 12 people so one pair would have to split up and share a room with strangers, on Valentine’s Day I might add. The tour guide then offered no other solution and sulked because we the group refused to sleep with strangers and kept telling us we needed to ring the hotel. Hands down the worst experience in Thailand so far. Definitely AVOID.

  7. Amazing tour, not to miss! One of the highlights of this year trip to Thailand. The lake and surroundings are as stunning as you see on videos in social media ;). It is just a must see with your own eyes! We had an amazing guide with whom we walked in the jungles and he was telling us so many interesting things about nature and animals. It was stunning inside the cave, bamboo float ride was also great. But one of the in-heart memories I now have is that we were able to see WILD ELEPHANTS. First time during my 7th time in Thailand. How cool is that? 200% recommendation!

  8. We booked a 2 night/3 day tour (first night at a farm stay in Khao Sok village and second night was the lake tour staying in floating bungalows). The farm stay was average: pretty farm and bungalows but not much to do other than the canoeing or night safari (you can’t do both). Food portions were small and water not included. The lake tour was the worst part. We booked the group tour, expecting 6-10 people, but there were over 30 people in one group. We didn’t do anything until 3/4pm because of the amount of people and poor organisation. There was so much waiting around. When we arrived at the lake there weren’t enough bungalows, so they told us to sleep on the floor in the reception area which had no roof or curtains (it was all glass so you have no privacy). The toilets were overflowing with waste and there was no soap. After complaining several times, we were moved to a different bungalow which was much nicer (although wasted even more time), and we enjoyed the swimming and kayaking. We were then promised a trek which turned out to be just a 500m walk, and we couldn’t hear anything the guide was saying because there were so many people. This tour operator also charges far more than others do. We met people on the same tour as us who paid only 2,300 baht for the lake tour. Finally, the tour is advertised as 3 days but really it’s only 2 because they made us leave the lake at 10am on the 3rd day. When we complained afterwards, the staff listened to us attentively and eventually gave us a refund which was appreciated, but I would not recommend this company.

  9. The view is excellent. The perfect picture of Thailand.Only the engine in the boat was really loud. The lunch was delicious. The swimming was really nice because it was warm and clear

  10. We have planned a day trip to the lake, going with a long tail boat. A friendly captain took us to some beautiful sights (including a cave and jungle tour). Also they offered a nice lunch at one of three lakes hotels. There we also had time to kayak and swim. And off course the views are stunning! A great day!
