Shark Point is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Thailand
Special thanks to Nu! Boat number 73! We were asking around many different long boat drivers till we met Nu he didn’t try to rip us off and gave us a fair price, we gave a 500baht deposit and agreed to meet at 6am at Mc Donald’s, we set out for sunset Nu then gave us snorkels and mask and hopped In the water with us he showed us the best place to find the sharks and then swam us over to find Nemo the orange fish, Nu was a great guide and we really enjoyed ourselves!
We were snorkeling out to shark point from Long Beach, just below “Phi Phi the Beach Resort” (approx. 200 m) at 8 a.m. Saw a lot of fish and urchins. After about 30 min we spotted 5 or 6 black tipped reef sharks. They were all about 1,2 m long. East side of the shark point island. Boat traffic is not that high in the morning so the sharks usually are not scared away. Would totally recommend. Be careful about the boats trafficing the area though!
We were looking forward to this part of our day trip at Ko Phi Phi but there were no sharks while we were there… waters are still beautiful..
The corals are almost all dead…..hence, I have seen only a few fishes…. We had a group tour and a few people saw 2 sharks, I haven’t seen any. We also shot the video that showed where else you can go and do snorkeling, and if you in general interested to see the main attractions in Phi Phi but still doubting or choosing where to go first, then type the title on YouTube:”You better learn THIS before going to Phi Phi Island Tour”We made a detailed guide with maps and locations for snorkeling, describing where are the main attractions, which boat is better to choose and which places don’t worth your time.
Despite what the previous poster wrote my son and his girlfriend saw sharks on their first visit and said that the corals were thriving and they saw many blue tang, clown fish, parrot fish and many others plus several black top reef sharks. They are studying marine vertebrate zoology at university and found the experience amazing. You could even snorkel from Long beach and see the same marine life
The coral is growing again after 2003 tsunami and now u can find corals of different shape and colours and a lot of fishes despite boats traffic….i have been there two times, so far, from long beach and i saw in both occasions little sharks
Went snorkeling and freediving from shore with my spouse. Wanted to see sharks, saw sharks. Me happy. Also nice healthy corals on the ocean side
the beach near the shark point is beautifulthe reef is great for snorkeling with lot’s of colorful fishes, we also spotted black tipped sharks few times
We had an amazing time at shark bay! We did a private boat tour on the wooden motor boat for a really fair price. It took us around the best spots, finishing at shark point. Within 2 minutes snorkelling we saw multiple fully grown black tip reef sharks. They were quite shy and swam away quickly but we saw around 7 in total within a 30 minute snorkel!
Several days in water and there are no sharks at shark point. Tiny fishes and dead coral yes disgusting to see and bad visibility. water is 30°C
