This is a pretty standard night market. We visited during the week on a Monday night and noticed many food stalls not being open, so would definitely recommend trying this on the weekend. The benefit however was it not being so overly crowded, so it made choosing a place to eat a bit more of a light stroll. However most stalls are much of the same so it wasn’t a deal breaker. To get here take the MRT blue line and get off at Phra Ram 9 station. The benefit of using the blue line is you can use your Visa card to tap and go instead of having to line up to purchase a card. There are some cute stalls to buy some souvenirs that I feel are pretty standard tourist market prices as the same with food prices.
Just go! Though I didn’t get to visit other night markets (wasn’t here during a weekend), the Jodd Fairs close to Rama 9 was a fun experience. Lots of great food (think I spent $5 max), fun things to see (squid shots and scorpions), and nice shops to browse even if you don’t plan to buy. If I pass by Bangkok during a weekday, I’d definitely visit here again.
There a masses of Chinese in busses being dropped off and escorted to the many eateries which are basically all the same. They sell specialties that are pork based and overpriced and poorly cooked by young kids in the kitchens. The service is simply not there and it’s become a cash grab. The food is sweeter and the spices are missing. The drinks are cool but not cold. Then the local market is again repetitive and not local at all. All in all a poor experience and definitely not worth the time and money.
We took a trip to this market after reading a few reviews. Let’s say that most of them were correct. There are plenty of places to eat sea food here. It does get fairly well packed with tourists. You can get some cheap food other than the sea food if you prefer it. Many drinks and also some places selling the usual tourist trinkets. We didn’t stay that long. It’s easy to get to from Sukhumvit via the MRT. Read the reviews before going. Then make your own mind up to go or not.
Vibrant night market with plenty of food options and stalls, and a nice chilled bar area to relax and have a drink (if you can get a seat). Toilet situation lets the venue down slightly, you have to pay to use them and pay again for a small pack of tissues if you need that, but the cleanliness of them doesn’t represent the payment like other toilets throughout Bangkok. Close to a metro station if you are using public transport and plenty of tuktuks waiting outside if you prefer that to travel home.
A tame, clean, fresh, lovely way to visit a night market. This place has enough food and craft choices to keep anyone happy – even vegetarians.
Not much variety at Jodd fair. Spent less than an hour shopping there. Heard so much about this night market but personally find it quite disappointing.
Good market. Disgusting toilets you had to pay 4Absolutely the worst u can imagine AvoidGood food and drink ruined by this experience . 3rd world experience w
