Wow wow wow – Catfish. My first ever fish was about 25kg.Got at least 12 in 4 hours with relaxing breaks and some refreshments. My friend caught close on 20. My arms ached the next day.If you’ve never fished before don’t worry… the lake guide / helper will help prepare your rod, bait and even do a long cast for you if you’re struggling to start.Fantastic enjoyable day with friends.
Great half day trip with my guide. Caught well over thirty fish in a four hour session (which is plenty in the Thailand heat) up to around 30 kg. 1500 tb (around £38) includes transfer to and from hotel, all bait and two rods plus a guide who will help bait and cast if needed. Great value in my opinion and a must for all keen anglers. These fish fight like hell.
Me and my father spent a day fishing Borsang Lakes for Mekong Catfish which was expertly arranged by Reiner from Dreamlakes. We were picked up on time and taken to the lakes to be greeted by a more than helpful guide Pong. He was able to get us straight into fish and we had a most enjoyable day, although the fish fight very hard so we were exhausted by the end of the day. We ended up well into double figures of fish with the biggest being around 35kgs. Food was provided as part of the package and was also delicious. If you are looking to do some fishing whilst in Chiang Mai then get in touch with Reiner, he has a wealth of local knowledge and is extremely helpful!
Fished Borsang lake today. Initially booked for half day but was enjoying it som much that I decided to stay for the day (just had to pay the difference). Had a great day with loads of fish with two around 35kg each. Facilities were pretty ok, lunch was ok and our spot had shade all day which we needed. We went for the package deal – I have read some comments that it’s much cheaper to just turn up but we had a guide, all tackle and bait and lunch included as well as pickups and drop offs so was a good deal we thought – it also included us losing some tackle ( got snapped up a few times) at no cost.
The husbands (3 of us) went on this trip while the wives slept in. It was a lot of fun. The tour provided rods and bait plus help in landing the fish. The 3 of us fished for 3 hours and landed 20 Mee Kong Giant Catfish. Biggest one nearly 50 lbs. Lots of fun. Must go. The only thing they are missing is the harness for the rod. It would be super perfect if they had that. We had to put the rod against our body and that wasn’t fun but it was still a super fun trip.
We had a great time fishing for the Mekong catfish, which are great fighters!! You fish on shore. We had Tuk tuk for a guide, and he was very good at it!! My best was a 40kg, 125 centimeter, with others close behind. The morning was slower but built up in the afternoon as it got warmer. It is amazing the pull those fish have!! Takes awhile to bring them in. Reiner picked us right on time and brought us back to the guest house. On day trips lunch is included, which was very good!! We’ll certainly be returning for another fishing expedition!!
Arranged for pick up from my hotel at 1.30pm. I waited outside for 1 hour from 1.20pm. The driver never arrived and when I phoned up to ask why the driver never arrived, the person on the other end of the line tried to blame me. He said I never showed up so he drove off. I explained to him that he was lying as I’d been there 10 minutes earlier than the pick up time arranged.He started to abuse me down the phone and then hung up on me. He had the manners of a pig…

Excellent service provided, the owners make you feel like part of the family.Beautiful gardens and picturesque lake.Fish health is outstanding with a wide range of species stocked.Not an easy lake to fish for armature anglers. But if you have experience, you will enjoy varying your methods to target the many species.Reiner is a deep vault of knowledge regarding anything aquatic and can so advice you on most aspects of Thailand.His wife Ploy is truly lovely and cooks seriously delicious food, western and Thai.A peaceful escape just a stone’s throw from the city.
Went today and caught 18 big catfish. Biggest one was 1.2 meters. The pick up and drop off from hotel was awesome and super nice host! Definitely worth it. But I’d suggest maybe only a 1/2 day.
