  1. This rustic retreat is spectacular. The reservoir is breathtaking. There are small cabins and campsites , boat rentals and small cafes to enjoy. It is the most perfect picnic site ever.

  2. We were motorcyclists and came to camp here. The park has a generous campground capable for at leasta hundred of camps. Since it was winter, temperature was below 10’C, thus be prepared if you came during these colder months. It has a wonderful scenery, snd in the morning we saw mist coming up above the lake. It’s phenomenal, happens only in winter.

  3. From pai it will be around 3 to 4 hours ride with scoopy includes stop for photos and rest. Its located really really far from the main street so this place is really silent and calm. i rent a chalet facing the lake. In the morning its bit cold, so prep some warm clothes.the best time to visit is during winter , dec to feb. If u plan to stay in chalet , u need to book earlier as i booked 1 month ahead, but chalet with bathroom already full booked. they also provide camp to rent BBQ set. A small cafe run from 7am to 9-10pm, but no halal foods for muslim. so for muslim, please take some food from pai or mae hong son . its worth to visit.

  4. This must be one of the most relaxing and beautiful areas in the north. Most people rent or take their own tents but there are huts to hire. There is a small village in walking distance so food and restaurants are available.Beautiful weather in the cool season but I think too hot during the summer months.

  5. It was experience for Theme Building at Pang Ung National Park Mae Hong Son after we visit Baan Rak Thai Village the former Chinese National who move from Yunan to Border of Thailand in the old day.

  6. Beautiful view but need to be early. It is situated only a few kilometers from Ban Ruk Thai. We came here while travelling to Pai.

  7. I camped at Pang Ung with a friend a few weeks ago, and as we were planning for our trip, we struggled to find information about it in English. Luckily everything worked out for us and we loved it but here’s some info I would have liked before we arrived: – Google maps says it takes about an hour to drive to Pang Ung from Mae Hong Son, but the road is verrrryyyyy curvy, so if you’re newer at driving a motorbike, it takes closer to 2 hours. The way there is also mostly uphill and uses a lot of gas so make sure to keep an eye on that. There’s a few villages on the way that have gas or bring a bottle with you! – Be sure to arrive with plenty of daylight left so a ranger can help you set up. – There’s tents to rent if you don’t have your own. They’re comfy and clean! – There’s bathrooms and showers at the campsite- There’s a small shop at the campsite with food (mostly ramen). There’s also a village that has a few shops and restaurants about a 10 minute walk away. It’s not predictable when all this will be open though so be sure to at least bring some snacks! – The nature trail is currently closed (as of February 2020). There’s a few roads to walk down near the lake, but I wouldn’t describe Pang Ung for a great place for hiking. – The lake is beautiful to look at, but for conservation reasons, no swimming. – We struggled to find places to charge our phones so be prepared for that (but there is service)- The employees there don’t speak much English. We were able to get by with elementary Thai, but if you don’t know any, have some sort of translator! – Pang Ung is a great place for hammocking. Given that there’s not much to do there, bring a book, journal, or card games to enjoy next to the lake. You’ll probably find yourself with free time! Bottom line: Pang Ung is a beautiful, slow paced place if you find yourself wanting to camp and relax in Northern Thailand. Would totally recommend!

  8. Off the main road you come to a lake surrounded by forest. There are some rooms for rent. Although not spectacular it is certainly a nice place for a break to relax. So don’t expect too much but just enjoy what it is.

  9. PANG OUNG~~It’s a tiny village at Maehongsorn. And there is a Pang Oung Lake here. It’s very large lake that is spectacular and beautiful.Surrounded by pine trees and mountain chains.(luv PO.)

  10. We visited pang oung in late january, the mornings are really cold (12 deg when we were there), so bring a jacket. The bamboo boats start at 7am and cost 150baht each for 30mins. Max 2 pax per boat, just pay them in cash. The boats are near the public carpark but if you are going into the national park it’s additional 200baht for foreigners and 20baht for locals. Would recommend to just take the boat and take pictures if you’re not keen to hike or camp inside the national park.
