As soon as I booked I was notified that my trip that day was canceled due to weather, and Rob instead offered a free VIP upgrade to the next day, which was very kind. The boat was lovely, and the sea super blue. Loved snorkeling on the reefs, though it was a bit cloudy. Was disappointed and a little bit horrified by Pig Island. Our guide was very sweet but the beach consisted of very thirsty pigs, tourists chasing them with their cameras, and stray dogs who begged for food at the restaurant tables. There was lots of litter and because it was particularly hot that day, a stench of pig manure and urine from the overflowing bathrooms. Food was alright. Would have rather spent more time snorkeling and being educated on the marine wildlife. I hope they can sort out the overpopulation on Ko Mat Sum and clean it up, because it is a very beautiful island.
Very nice staff. Very nice experience. Pig island full of tourists but you can walk away and be in a more quiet area i. 5min walk
Pig island was GREAT! We had a wonderful guide who was very helpful and we were served lovely food. This is a must see experience! One of the best days out, especially for the kids as well, feeding the friendly pigs!Snorkeling was a disappointment for us. The water was not really clear that day and the fish and corals were nothing like what we experienced at Koh Lipe. But we had fun in the water and the highlight of the trip came after, when we went to Pig island. Would do it all again!
We did the pig island & snorkling trip. Everything was very good organised, our guide Rin and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
The half-day tour to Pig Island was definitely one of the best things we did on our one week stay in Ko Samui! We had the boat to ourselves and we enjoyed the snorkeling and swimming, although there was almost no visibility in the water at this time of the year. We also really loved the vibe on Pig Island with the animals, walking around on the beach, swimming and sipping on coconut drinks & beers by the beach! Afterwards we enjoyed a real feast with loads of food and fruit while catching the sunset. Thank you so much, our tour guide Boom for making our trip very enjoyable and memorable! <3
I did this tour yesterday (26th of April) and didn’t enjoy it one bit. I don’t think these pigs are well cared for at all. One had an enormous tumour which was literally scraping the floor as he walked (see photo), pigs were fighting over the food that tourists paid to give them, the pigs and numerous dogs were desperately thirsty, and I noted as certain workers walked past the pigs they cowered or scarpered. The money paid by tourists is not going towards the welfare of these animals. I couldn’t wait to get off the island and wish I could have taken all the animals with me. If you love animals then be prepared to not feel good about what you see.
I absolutely loved spending a few hours with the pigs, they are so cute! The lunch was yummy (but be prepared to fight off many flies). I wouldn’t have high hopes for the snorkelling- the water was murky and there was high coral that could scratch you, that combo made me feel uncomfortable doing that part. As long as you come for the pigs you’ll have a good time though! I still recommend.
