My partner and I booked with koh tao divers, and it was a fantastic experience! The owner Jordy even went out of his way to ensure we had accommodations our first night, as there was a scheduling error and we could have been left stranded on the island! We did the intro course together, then I completed the open water SSI certification, and I loved it! The instructors were very knowledgeable, experienced, friendly and personable, and I appreciated their expertise and positive teaching style. I loved it so much I took the advanced open water, and certainly didn’t regret it! I’d love to go back and pursue more scuba diving with koh tao divers, and would recommend beginners or experienced divers to book with them! Highly recommend, great people and an incredible experience
I went twice: in a January with a friend and in a February solo.During my latest visit, I participated in 2 fun dives – some main points:- First dive: when I surfaced after the safety spot, I had clearly less than 50 bar left in my tank.- Second dive: our group of 4 (fun) divers was divided into 2 (new pairs) during the dive. Divemaster Trainee brought me and another (fun) diver to the surface and the others continued diving.- The Divemaster* couldn’t say if the boat has some kind of first aid (such as cream for the wounds) or vinegar available.- A weird experience in total. I felt there was no clarity or determination. * Divemaster: I am referring to the person who was guiding the fun dives.During my first visit (in January), I completed SSI Open Water Diver -course (in Finnish).Some main points:- Very professional instructor- Trusting feeling when we practiced practical skills in the water- Really nice experience, I would highly recommendOther comments:- In my opinion, really good location close to the shore- Person who works in the reception is really kind and helpful
Thank you KTD for unforgettable four weeks of diving and helping me to cross to the dark side ❤️Overall, my training experience with KTD has been excellent and I’d recommend them any day for ANYONE who wants safety-oriented, personalized and friendly training. You will be challenged and perhaps even pushed but it will be worth it because the training helps you to become a better diver. You won’t be asked to do anything you cannot do and learning in these safe conditions helps you to be a safe and conscientious diver. The main objective of this trip was to get my XR Sidemount certification and to gain confidence in sidemount diving. I had hoped to complete cavern or XR as well but wasn’t sure if either would happen and through hard work the rewards came; extended range certification in sidemount configuration. Big part of this was the support of my instructors Pasi (XR sidemount) and Naomi (XR), both of whom challenged me and supported me to advance my diving skills.I had trained with Pasi before for my rescue and advanced wreck and his “no-nonsense, let’s get this done properly but let’s laugh when there’s an appropriate time” was familiar to me. His experience and passion in tec diving are clear and make him an excellent instructor also for recreational diving. I really appreciate the support and assistance in also getting my own gear before the course and configuring it right during it – half a cm can make all the difference and while I am still learning, having had such excellent support in the beginning sets you on good track. Pasi is really professional, organized and he helps with any issues you might have. He also has a great sense of humor but as a Finn living abroad to another Finn in the beginning it was challenging 😂 cultural differences. Doing the XR course with Naomi was the most challenging course I’ve done so far. It was hard, long, and emotional but worth the work. Going in to the course I knew it would be pushing my limits and we discussed this, in the end I needed a bit more fun dives and an extra day of training for the XR course, but this is normal. After all, your instructor needs to be confident that you won’t be a liability to a team and if there are doubts, you need to practice more. Naomi explains complex theory very well and adds her personal flair through jokes which are always nice when you have 7hrs of theory in a day. She is the embodiment of “train hard, dive easy” and while during a two minute “everything is failing and oh you have now overstayed your deco plan” -simulation it might be frustrating, that’s what tec training is about. You prepare for all possible catastrophes so that you can dive safe.I have seen some people commenting that they felt being outside an “inner circle” and I do understand where the sentiment comes from. I felt the same way for some time in the beginning of my first trip last autumn. What really helped was being open myself and just chatting with other people, which is what I also try to do with new people on boats when appropriate. Lastly but really not the least at all I want to give a shout-out to all the staff! Especially Yaiza and Jordi for making the dive sites work on board – even if I still didn’t get my junkyard 😭 next time?! Would also love more wreck dives with Jordi! Also Ukki for being a chill DM who doesn’t try to swim fast and focuses on having a relaxed time underwater; Niina for nudibranch spotting; Jenni for organisation, chat, and marine life spotting; Nuutti for chill dives and banter; Isra for laughter & humor & wreck passion (and I hope to dive more wrecks with him the next time!), as well as Lucas and Alfonso for their sense of humor. Further to these there were great DM(T)s at the shop to have chat and banter with and the opportunity to book the excellent Maxime for tec pictures was really lovely. Diving-wise I find it hard to come back to Koh Tao as I know there are “more exciting” places in Thailand, yet it’s the people that are going to make me book another trip back. The quality of tec training is bar none and the familial environment just makes you feel at home. Came for a few weeks in September 2023, will struggle to not return annually! Thank you KTD and I will be back for more technical fun and training ❤️
We did the 3 day Open Water Course and it was truly the best of both worlds: we were able to dial in critical skills and knowledge while also seeing some incredible dive sights. I couldn’t have imagined a better instructor than Lucas: extremely professional, could answer almost any question and was an incredibly confident and capable leader on dives. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Koh Tao.

It was such a great experience. Not only because of the underwater world but also because of my teacher. Bart leaded and taught us through this whole thing in a good line but always had a smile on. I would always recommend it to anybody.
