  1. Colin and Oi on SY Swift were amazing. As a family with teenage boys, we had a fabulous time on board. Oi catered and fed our boys well. Despite Colins injury he ensured everyone had a great time. We visited some amazing snorkeling spots, we explored Morakot Cave without any other tourists, we walked the beach of Ko Rok all by ourselves, the boys caught fish and enjoyed the onboard guitar. We would highly recommend staying onboard Swift. The coms with the Sailing Phuket team prior was excellent. If you are considering sailing on Swift with Colin and Oi, just book it, you won’t regret it!

  2. Our sailing trip in Thailand had long been in the planning – in fact 5 years, so it gave us plenty of time to research all the options and make a careful choice. With such research, expectations can easily be let down, but not in this instance. Steve and his team of Ya and Kop on the SY Mahayana were quite simply outstanding and exceeded our expectations. My daughter ran the planning and communication in the run up, which were detailed, clear and prompt. Help with shore based requirements was also on point.Joining the boat from the shores of our hotel was a great touch that took away a lot of logistical hassle. And then we were off on a magical 7 night excursion through the Andaman Sea. Every day was excellent and different and felt better than day before. There was a great mix of night moorings between beach life on some days and remoteness and nature on others. The snorkelling at every site was world class, hardly a need for diving. Steve gave a detailed briefing of every place we visited, what to do and see and watch out for, which was very re-assuring as tourist. One of the stand-outs of the trip, was Kop and her legendary cooking. We were blown away with the variety and flavours and authenticity. Not sure we have ever eaten that well in a week! The other stand-out was just the chilled, relaxed and comfortable feeling on the yacht. Steve is a professional with a genuine interest in his job and his guests, easy to get on with, and a good sense of humour. It was a privilege to spend a week with Steve, Ya and Kop. We hope to repeat it one day.

  3. My wife and I spent a fabulous 5 days aboard Full Steam with Alex amd Peung.Full Steam is 40ft catamaran, and we stayed in a simple yet comfortable cabin and ate the excellent food which Peung provided.Alex is a highly skilled sailor who has sailed round the world and was happy to pass on tips and involve us in sailing as we sped around the islands of Phang Nga Bay and the Andaman Sea., often topping 10 knots even in light wind. Particular delights were the secluded anchorages where we often slept on feck under the stars and the unspoilt coral reefs where we snorkelied. Alex even managed to catch us a small tuna for dinner as we sailed.I would highly recommend Full Steam and Alex to couples looking to have an adventure under sail in the beautiful seas and Isles around Phuket. We will return!

  4. This was such a great trip. Eight friends in our sixties from the US, first time to SE Asia. We started in Ao Yon near Phuket and spent 8 nights on Mahayana in early February. Crew was amazing – they took great care of us. The snorkeling was like being in an aquarium at several locations. Captain Steve was great about explaining where we were going, what to expect, where to swim and snorkel and he avoided rough seas and jellyfish with this itinerary. We sailed maybe three days of the eight which was fine. Food was delicious. We were slightly worried before the trip about cabin and head arrangements (3 heads for 8 guests and 4 crew) but it really was a non-issue. Evenings were mostly comfortable (no AC) as it cools off after dark and cabins had small fan. This was a fabulous trip for both the new and experience sailors. Highly recommend.

  5. Family reunion on the Zero where we spent three fantastic days in the Andaman Sea. John and Jaa are very welcoming hosts, and have taught the children a thousand things. The landscapes are incredible, the wind allowed us to move forward but blurred the sea a little, so little snorkeling. The food is delicious and the beds comfortable. It’s a great experience!

  6. Had a wonderful trip with John and Ja. The boat was great, the food even better. The trip was at risk of being spoiled by thousands upon thousands of jellyfish, but the hosts did great at finding us some clear waters to swim and snorkel in.

  7. We had a brilliant time on board SY Mahayana, a very spacious catamaran, exploring some of the most idyllic locations that Thailand has to offer. Steve left no stone unturned to ensure we had an amazing experience that will be talked about for years to come. There are too many highlights to list of our 7 day adventure, but suffice to say the meals prepared by Thai chef, Kop, were absolutely amazing. The skipper, Ya, is a consumate professional and we felt at ease with him at the helm. Thanks a million Steve for an unforgettable experience that surpassed all of our expectations.

  8. What an absolutely amazing trip. We had 5 days/nights aboard the catamaran with the 3 staff: owner/captain Steve, the chef, and the deckhand/Co-captain. The staff were always helpful, attentive to our needs, friendly and very nice! We spent the 5 days sailing around Phang Nga Bay going to different beaches, caves, snorkeling spots, kayaking and just chilling on the boat. Steve had extensive knowledge of the area and best places to see and stay at night.I would highly recommend his company and boat for your trip.

  9. We booked Sailing Yacht Nakamal, we worked with Steve along the whole process and he was amazing and answered all of our questions. From the moment we joined the boat we were greeted with a smile from Captain Dieter and his most lovely wife Ay. We did a 4 day charter, it was my wife and 4 year old son. We had the best time ever, we paddle boarded into some amazing spots, we were the first to all the adventures because we spent the night in these remote spots and beat the tourists. We could not recommend Steve, Captain Dieter and Ay enough. This was a trip of a lifetime and such a great way to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday!

  10. Wow, just wow! We spent 6 days and 5 nights aboard the 43-foot catamaran SY Zero and it was amazing. Captain John met us at the Phuket Yacht Club and allowed us to enjoy a few adult beverages before heading off. During our brief time at PYC, we expressed to John that like most people we wanted to see all the beautiful spots, but also avoid the crowds – and that is exactly what happened. We got to see the most amazing places, little hidden gems, and swim, snorkel and stand-up paddle board in the warm waters of the Andaman Sea. SY Zero is a beautiful catamaran and is incredibly well kept and maintained, while we were out on the water we would see other boats at anchorage, and no other yacht was as well maintained and cared for – it wasn’t even close. The interior of the catamaran was also neat as a pin and very comfortable. I’m 6’4″ (190cm) and I had plenty of headroom which made getting around the interior of the yacht much more enjoyable. The berths are spacious with plenty of air flow for very comfortable sleeping at night. The Zero doesn’t need much wind to sail (unlike other catamaran build types) so we got to experience the beauty of Thailand while experiencing the peace and quiet that accompanies the lapping of the ocean against the hull – which is made even better with the sun shining down, a cool breeze, a good book and a refreshing drink close at hand while sitting in the shade provided by the sails. And the food…. Our onboard chef, Jaa (also Captain John’s wife) makes the most wonderful Thai cuisine. I’ve been to Thailand many times, and Jaa’s food is off the chart amazing! Every meal was top notch, full of flavors, exactly to our needs, and the variety of dishes was incredible! We’d be happy never to leave the safety of the harbor just to sit on that boat and eat Jaa’s cooking.Captain John and Jaa have such a great vibe and work so well together as a team – they really care about you, your experience, and each other. They have this great balance of giving you options of where to go what to see, or communicating about what is possible based on current conditions (sailing or motoring), all while allowing you to feel that you have the boat all to yourself. The evenings we spent over dinner on the boat with John and Jaa were the best, we learned so much about Thailand, the culture, and even picked up some useful Thai phrases. Spend a few minutes with John and Jaa and you will instantly like them, spend a few hours with them and you’ll have made new friends. It’s a little bittersweet to write this review, because I kind of want to keep SY Zero a secret and keep this experience all to ourselves, but it was such a fantastic time that it would be unkind not to share how special our experience was on SY Zero.If you’re thinking about booking this yacht, do it. You’ll be happy you did.

  11. We spent three days of our honeymoon with John & Jaa and had the most incredible time. The hospitality was brilliant and the meals prepared for us were so fresh and tasty. We would not recommend enough. It really was such a special trip and so much fun to switch off from reality for this time and embrace the ocean life!

  12. We sailed with SY Full Steam, captained by the amazing Skipper Alex and joined by the fabulous cook Pheung. Alex ensured our journey was as comfortable as possible, guiding us to stunning remote, uninhabited islands as well as lively spots with plenty of action. It was a perfect adventure, just as we had hoped. We boarded SY Full Steam near Chalong Pier, conveniently close to Alex’s house, where we could store any unnecessary bags. You don’t need much on the trip—you basically live in your swimwear for the duration.Pheung’s cooking was, without a doubt, the best Thai food we had in Thailand. She was a lot of fun to be around and even took us on a bar hop when we went ashore. Being local to the area, she knew exactly where to go, making the experience even more enjoyable. We did a lot of snorkeling and were fortunate enough to see amazing fish and a turtle. We also had a kayak, allowing us to explore a little more. The clear nights were magical for stargazing, lying on the net at the front of the catamaran at night was an absolute treat. Here’s a brief schedule of our journey:Day 1: Sailed from Chalong to Racha NoiDay 2: Sailed to Racha YaiDay 3: Sailed to Nui Beach and Nai Harn BeachDay 4: Sailed back to ChalongIf you love being on the sea, this is an experience you must not miss.

  13. We spent 4 nights/5 days aboard the SY Zero Catamaran with Captain John and Jaa. The experience was very positive. We were able to visit several island areas, kayak, swim, snorkel and have a great sailing experience. Breakfasts were western foods and lunches and dinners were Thai foods, all delicious and plentiful in size and variety. Our daughters were not able to both comfortably sleep in their sleeping berth mostly due to my daughter’s tall height, so she slept on the sofa area on top which worked out, and my husband and I were comfortable in our sleeping birth. John navigated us so we were able to avoid most of the heavy crowds and have a nice experience in each area we visited. The catamaran was very well maintained and clean. John and Jaa are very accommodating and friendly hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience chartering with them.
