Gem and Jewelry Museum is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 140, 140/1-3, 140/5 ITF - Tower Building. 1st - 4th and 6th Floor, Silom Road Suriyawong, 10500, Thailand
This small museum is located on Maha Set road between Thanon Surowang and Santiphae alley. Information is given about the formation of gemstones and process of extracting them. Many displays of the differant gems and cut stones. Next is the process of turning them into jewelry. This is also a jewelry store and you will be offered to purchase some if you please. The museum is closed on Sunday and it cost 200 baht admission.
Another overpriced tourist trap. Didn’t enjoy it at all… The prices are way too high. Oh abbé to barter, but the staff are indignant.

Beautiful displays of minerals and gems, especially the rubies and sapphires which this area is known for. The cost is a little high considering that the whole thing can be seen in less than an hour. I enjoyed this a lot, in a good location.
I have recommended this museum in the Gemstone Detective tourist guide, which I was researching when I visited last year. It’s a small museum, but still there’s plenty to see – allow yourself an hour. You can learn about gem mining and processing, different varieties of gemstone and jewellery manufacture.
Our city tour included this place.they have 10 min movie followed by small factory and then showroom.if you are not going to buy anything then it’s waste of time.movie was nice
I could not shop in this place. The sight of the large baby black tip sharks swimming in a very cramped tank made me feel extremely emotional and angry. It could very clearly be seen that these fish are distressed and injured due to their limited swimming space. From every angle within this shop I could see their anguish.I got so distressed I had to leave immediately without even looking at any of the gems and minerals. Please take the time to consider the lives of these creatures and remove them from this barbaric life.I will never recommend to any friends or family to visit this place and I won’t be back.
Much of the jewelry was very beautiful, but over priced. Good mix of jewelry. Except earrings. Was looking for earrings with French hooks, they only had a few pairs.
I have been to the same store myself in Chiang Mai. The strap cost 100bath more here than in Chiang Mai. They felt they could not bid here themselves.Not friendly and dishonest.
