  1. I saw it in Feb 2018. I see it’s closed now. I walked around the Mahakan Fort Community and got some beautiful photos there. I read a few months ago that a few days after my visit one of the iconic house were demolished. Truly sad that this part of Bangkok’s history is going down the tubes.

  2. The Mahakan Fort located close to golden mount is quite a large structure unfortunately you can not enter the site but still has some good photo opportunities.

  3. This newly renovated (including eviction of people who use to live here), one of the first built after establishment of Krungthep city, fort (itself off limits for visitors) with walls and small green area (toilets available) could be worth stopping by if visiting nearby attractions, otherwise don’t bother.

  4. You happen to be making a trip to the area to combine all of the attractions, but actually not a great amount to see here so would give it a swerve!

  5. This fort is beautifully situated along the river Chao Phraya – pier Pra Arthit. Too bad the fort is permanently closed! But also a nice environment to spend an hour and enjoy the peace and the green. A nice route, also to drink coffee at Amazon coffee. This shop is run by deaf and mute youths, they do their very best to take care of everything down to the last detail. A very neat and clean business with a beautiful terrace. The street is very worthwhile to stroll through.

  6. Mahakan Fort built together with city wall aged around 236 years. actually the city have 16 forts but remaining as of today – 2 forts, another is Sumeru fort on Pra Artit road.although it is not allowed to see inside, but it is good to see just outside the city defending system of ancient Siam.Beside the fort, you could walk, sit in the park or sit on the canal side. You could see The golden mount from this park too.from here, the Grand Palace is in walking range.Don’t miss if you planned to visit Historical district of Bangkok.

  7. If you are interested in the history of Bangkok and the people who live here then it is certainly a place to visit. There were some local people still living there when I visited

  8. Some left over parts from old city fortification, today it is more park inside then something for sightseeing. If you pass by then have a look otherwise no need to have it in the plan

  9. Located on the boundary of Rattanasokin Island, was once a perimeter fortification. Has a small park associated with it that would provide a pleasant resting place on a hot and weary day but otherwise just worth noting as you pass by in this area.

  10. The ramparts are more interesting than the fort, but they should have left the new white paint off them do. The historic feel is undone when the feeling of antiquity makes an old building look like a wedding cake. It’s okay, you can take a quick look while walking by on the way yo the Golden Mount. No harm, no foul.
