War Elephants Monument is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 13000, Thailand
These large bronze monuments are cast to actual elephant size.Made by lady artist Khun Khaimuk Chuto.You find them on the roadside going to the elephant kraal and elephant stay a few kilometres outside Ayutthaya ‘island’.
Worth a look but not on a trip for it alone however the elephant home stay is nearby so the 2 together might just be the job! There are 4 elephants plus crew and they point in the cardinal directions but they have no historical value except to show how these very large creatures were used in war. The crew consists of basically the driver up front, a rear gunner and the main man in the middle who might even have been the king. Each leg of the elephant is guarded and if it was the king these leg men would have been high nobles that were well trained in battle. Have a close look at each one as they are different.

I went to this place on Sunday Nov 18 2018. I think when the place was built it was very nice but now it has gone to ruin a little. It is good for a photo if you are in the area,
As I understand it, these are 4 practice runs bronzes made before the “real” one that is at Queen Suriyothai Park. They depict Queen Suriyothai heroically breaking the rules and riding an elephant into battle to try to help save the kingdom (she was tragically killed in battle, according to legend). The sculptures show nice life-sized details of the weapons used at that time. At time of my visit, the signs describing the monument were all destroyed by the elements. There is a pond behind with a person selling boat noodles, and a Muslim primary school behind that. The more interesting sights are the Elephant Kraal Pavilion next door and the elephant camp where the real elephants and mahouts live.
