  1. This was listed as an easy option to get a free shuttle ferry to ASIATIQUE. Think ahead and if you get there and see a queue, just pay up or leave. Basically the staff kept reorganising the queues so that if people decided to pay they then get priority to board the ferry. This resulted in almost an hour or more of waiting thinking we were almost able to get on a ferry. It should not be advertised as a free ferry if staff can make everyone wait until people finally cave and pay the fee to board the ferry first. Staff were incompetent and simply unhelpful when we tried to ask them about the queuing system. They kept saying we were next…

  2. There’s not much to say other than this is a pier where different ferries come and go. Be alert for your feErr yes they are not announced and they pull in, load up, and ship out. The schedules are pretty on time and the waiting area is well lit and there are plenty of people about. Walk to the sky train from the pier.

  3. We came here to pick up a River Cruise Ferry. There’s 3 or 4 to choose from, as well as a local ferry service. The touts for each company are eager to get your business, so be prepared to be harassed. When we came here at the end of the day we had a walk around the local market area nearby.Sathorn Pier is next to a BTS station so easy to get to.

  4. Had our breakfast at Sarnies Cafe nearby. Only 5 min walk away from Saphan Taksin BTS. If you’re taking BTS to Saphan Taksin, take exit 2 to Sathorn Pier. There is an official booth selling boat tickets. Upon waking to the booth, you may encounter some friendly local guiding you to the pier instead. Those are to the private long tail boat, which they’re trying to sell tourist. The official booth is located on the left side if you exit the BTS, facing the river. The long tail boat is on the right. There are many boat traveling towards Wat Arun with different stop. We chose the Tourist boat (blue line) for a hassle free ride. cost 30 baht. Clean washroom is available right outside pier.

  5. Sathorn pier is a useful hub where you can access the BTS station of Saphan Taksin within a few minutes walk, the various ferries and ‘hop on hop off’ boats and where some of the boats from hotels dock such as the Anantara and Ramada. A ferry, mainly used by the locals, to cross the river docks here too and costs 5 Baht each way, you pay for both crossings on the opposite side of the river to Sathorn Pier. The first sailing of this ferry is 5.30am and the last is 9pm. The ‘hop on hop of’ boat stops at various locations such as the mega mall of Iconsiam and Wat Arun. A single journey costs 30 Baht and an all day ticket costs 150 Baht. You get a very useful information booklet when you buy your ticket. There are also a number of people selling trips on long tail boats which appear to wait until all 10 or 12 seats are sold before they depart. Everything is easy to access if you follow the signs and there are staff on hand to ask, there is also plenty of seating in the shade.

  6. This is by far the easiest, cheapest and refreshing way to travel Bangkok, you get to see the locals, Bangkok drfting by slowly as you go up or down the river. Just buy a ticket and wait a few minutes and it will tuen up. Blue boats are best, slightly more expy, go upstairs and let the breeze refresh you as you go.

  7. This pier has boats to ajoing hotels, pleasure tours, Iconsiam, Asiatique as well as the BTS train station. Unfortunately it is also used by a well dresssed man in black who tell you he is the information officer for the pier, or he is the BTS station manager. This man preys on tourists asking wherebthey are going then tells them that location is closed today or will be shut for a short time. He then tries to direct you to a nearby Thai market “the best in Bangkok”. Be careful of this person.

  8. Previous warnings about The man in Black seemingly an official, but not, still true today when he tried to tell me the ferry to IconSiam wasn’t running. Untrue, ignore him

  9. Yes, the infamous “Man in Black” followed us (obvious tourists) and proceeded to tell us that everything was closed except the Thai Market. Not true! Don’t know what his angle is but today he said he worked at our Hotel – Anantara and was heading home to bed. When we turned heal he rolled his eyes and went back to the dock to await his next target!

  10. We also encountered the man in black after getting off the ferry as we walked by the BST station. He was friendly and said he was the Station Manager who had just finished work. He said there was nothing to see in the area and that we should could get a 1 hour tuk tuk tour around the area for 100bht. IGNORE HIM and follow your own plan.

  11. People who work at this pier seem to hate tourists. I saw them yelling at tourists and fighting amongst themselves. Treating people like cattle to get onto the boats. Hostile environment, won’t be returning.
