Firstly, take the BTS to Punnawithi BTS Station and exit to Sukhumvit Soi 101 which is 1 minute walk from the station. You’ll see a few mini-trucks for hire which will take you directly to the temple for 10THB per person.This is the home of the Jade Buddha and the Kuan Yin image.Start your stroll around the grounds and you’ll be surprised at the expanse of this temple/s. Whilst there, you’ll notice one very tall temple that is surrounded by the 7 day Buddhas and this temple houses a very large black marble Buddha. Take the elevator to the 10th floor, then the stairs up 4 short flights to see the holy bone of an ancient buddha lord – this is a very holy place so please respect all.I went on the last Buddha weekend with my Thai girlfriend and was surprised to be personally escorted to various places by one of the monks. That was a great honour.This would be one of the best temples in Bangkok and so easy to get to, once you know about it.Enjoy
the temple of the will power institut of a highly respected monk, with daughter temples in Canada. At the time difficult to reach, but now easier with sky train. A big interesting complex with different Jade Buddhas, three temples and one shrine on top of the tower. At the time my wife learned here meditation and we liked to come here to enjoy a nice atmosphere, a bid away from the big tourism, like an island in the noisy city. It surely is worth a visit, but as not old and not easy to reach by big bus it is not on the program of tourist companies, maybe happily..
I visited this temple on a gloomy sunday afternoon. It was really quiet and peaceful, not so many people there. The temple itself got some space and interesting looking architecture.
Wat Dhammaamongkol is beautiful and peaceful. The main hall is beautiful. The temple offers cooking, fruit carving, dress making, and computer classes at the building in the back on the weekends. The temple offers meditation.
I have heard that this temple is not easy to locate, however, when I came by BTS and asked for direction, I would say that it was not difficult to locate. It was just some walking required.The temple was under massive renovation when I went. I like the temple being a little low profile. It is at the end of the neighborhood yet it is not far away from city.I went to the building where the jade Buddha and Guanying was located. The building has 3 storeys.The 2nd storey is for ash tower and the 3rd storey is where the statues are.I would come back to go around the few buildings once the renovation is completed.
On Soi 101 just before Punawhitti BTS stop. An impressive array of buildings here. There seem to be masses of different areas dealing with different things. It was a busy, hot Sunday when I went. There are places to sit in the shade — worth popping in to see the buildings.
We went to Dhammamongkol Temple to the funeral of the head Phra Dhamma Mongkol Yarn. The temple was well maintained and beautiful. The officers were friendly and helpful. The main hall with black Buddha is wonderful. The Jade Buddha is located at the adjacent building. Morning visiting is recommended.
