  1. It’s right around the corner to Terminal 21 and anyone around the area should go visit!!Beautifully preserved setting of what it was like hundreds of years ago. What was totally amazing is that this beautiful place is right in the busy center of Bangkok city. Those who love architecture would appreciate how the houses are built and how the layouts are so well planned.

  2. Conveniently located right next to the Sukhumvit MRT (and Asok BTS about 5 min walk away). Not crowded at all on a mid week afternoon. The museum comprises 2 typical Lanna style houses (main house and granary that are linked by a small bridge on the 1st floor) with its distinct architecture and home contents. Most are rice farmers and they store their grain in the granary. You start at the ground floor where there are some exhibits and a short tv introduction on how a Lanna home is built. If you plan on visiting the 1st floor of the home, you have to pay Baht 100 per person, which I thought was worth it. You’ll get to see the home’s artifacts in the main hall, kitchen and granary, as well as understanding their way of life in the explanations provided. Photo taking is allowed.

  3. So close to all the busyness of downtown Bangkok this little museum gives a very good insight into the ways the Northern Thais used to live. The museum is based in the reconstruction of a traditional Northern Thai house. Entry is only THB 100 so it’s also very good value for money.

  4. Kamthieng House is located close to Central Terminal. It is a kind of oasis in the middle of the financial district and all the Skyscrapers and construction sites around. It is a conglomerate of different wooden buildings from the northern area of Thailand. The houses are in an excellent condition with furniture and accessories and they are located in a very green surrounding. Everything is explained very well so that you get an idea of how life is in an Isaan village. You pay e very little entrance fee which is absolutely ok. In contrary to the Jim Thompson houses it is very empty as only few tourists are around.

  5. Located near two public transit stops and behind the Terminal 21 Mall this is a bit of old Thailand in the middle of the city.It is a surprisinglyrics tranquil spot. It consists of a northern Thailand house and out buildings reconstructed for the Siam Society. An animated video shows the lifestyle of the people and the constructio of the house.English signage is very thorough. At several locations videos, with English subtitles enhance the experience. For 100 Bhat this is a great place to relax and learn for 1 to 2 hours.

  6. Nicely tucked away at the road junction. A nice small museum which shared about the cultural believes of the Thai people. A 50 THB donation is asked for to enter the museum.

  7. First, the pin on the map is wrong here on Trip Advisor. This is the google map address 131 Soi Sukhumvit 21, Khwaeng Khlong Toei Nuea, Khet Watthana, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10110, Thailand. The museum is located opposite of the Pullman Bangkok Grande Sukhumvit. On the ground floor has some interesting daily utensils, while one the upper floor are the living quarters. It’s a great insight of northern Thai culture. It’s a small exhibition and it’s a great way to end a day of sightseeing when you around Sukhumvit area. It takes around 45 minutes for the visit.

  8. Just steps away from the steel and glass retail of Terminal 21 at the Asok BTS stop is this “northern Thai ethnological museum “. It is an exposition of the motivating beliefs, ideologies and practice of the Lanna lifestyle in northern Thailand through the exhibits in this original 19th century northern Thailand home. There are adequate signs in English and subtitled videos. You can read every sign and watch every video in about an hour. Opens at 9 am Tue – Sunday. Admission was 100 Bhat or about 3$.

  9. Museum is located alongside Siam Society with separate entrance to the museum. Consists of a relocated Lanna-style house and through the displays and multimedia presentations, brings some insights into the Lanna culture.Easy to spend an hour or so here: out the front of the grounds is a Black Canyon Coffee cafe also.Admission is now B100 per person: perhaps a little steep given the scope and extent of the museum but certainly worth visiting if you are in the area.

  10. To remind all friend, they close on Monday. Please visit from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00- 17:00. Nice coffee shop nearby. Worth to come, close to mtr station. Better to plan in advance. There are good shopping mall nearby. 5 mins walking distance from terminal 21 shopping mall.
