  1. Not worth for visit if you are not in the neighborhood. The fort is in a cosy park near the river. Also near to khao san road

  2. The fort is built in Thai style architecture and beautiful. The garden area around has benches to sit and relax.

  3. Old white fort by a park next to the river. Early evening watch exercise classes and the sunset, near to coco bar for drinks and bridge

  4. When I came to this old fort I could not go inside but was still worth a walk around the outside. Nice garden and afew nice photos then you can walk to the river edge and enjoy the view.

  5. Lovely temple of golden Budapest well worth visiting group of monks there chanting while we were present felt really spiritual , and extra blessing.

  6. Interesting to look at from the outside but never found it open for a view of the inside – locals say it is closed to the public. Dating from the late 1700s, it was part of the fortifications of Bangkok when the capital was moved here from Ayutthaya. Around the fort, between it and the Chao Phraya River, there is a nice park which was being decorated with pots of yellow flowers ahead of the Royal Barge Procession in December 2019.

  7. I really liked the park around Phra Sumen Fort. The fort itself can only be seen from the outside. I twice visited the park at sunset and it was a lovely experience. There were families and group of friends relaxing, playing badminton, juggling and doing yoga. Some quiet Thai music was being played in the background and people were watching the sunset from the riverside benches. My second visit was livened up by an al-fresco exercise class with the Thai version of Mr Motivator. The park is a few meters along the riverside walk from Pier 13 – I would recommend for a sunset walk.

  8. This one and only fort is one landmark in the area. It becomes one of the major area for community. Many activities have arranged in this area. One identity – Lumphu tree – is also found here. Even though the oldest one was gone but the new growth one is in progress. The history as high-bas sculpture display in the area for a long while. Most people might not notice it at all. Anyhow, a pavillion is built there for Royal ceremony on boat. If you can come, please notice things or ask local for more historical information.

  9. This pretty fort was right next to our hotel so we used to go past it all the time. It’s incredible that there is such history right in the city and it is definitely worth finding if you are out exploring. Unfortunately, due to the current times, access was restricted but you can still get some great photographs from the outside.

  10. Nice enough. Intresting architecture and near the river. Can swing by for a quick visit. It’s near Khaosan Rd so easily walkable from there
