King Naresuan is one of the Great Kings of Thailand. His statue demonstrates his status. You really should visit this statue while being in Ayutthaya.
The King Naresuan Monument is located at a round-about along a massive boulevard that also happens to lead to the Golden Monument (Wat Phukhao Thong). There is the monument of the King on horse-back at the top and surrounding this monument is a plaque as well as a huge collection of roosters at the top near the statue and along the base. These roosters are displayed in small and large sizes and a colorful assortment from gold, black, and white. We actually stumbled upon these two monuments by mistake as we were leaving the city and observed the massive boulevard and decided to check it out as we could see a monument in the distance from the main road and wanted to see the significance of the temple and monument. We ended up spending more time here than we had allowed or anticipated, but it was certainly worth the diversion.
King Narasuan who is one of the great kings of Thailand and has a murky past; he was given away by his father who lost a battle and had to forfeit to the winner. After many years in Burma this guy returned and helped the Burmese sack Ayutthaya and stayed on as a ruler of a province but then realized he would be sacrificed, so as a seasoned warrior he stood up and took on the Burmese general as such and he killed him on horseback. Soon after he challenged the prince of Burma to the highest form of combat in those days which was fighting from elephant back and he indeed won the battle, but we need to understand that in those days it was a joust and single combat so no army could intervene and the loser lost everything and gave up the battle ground, hence Burmese troops returning to Burma! This statue is one of many you will find all over Thailand as he is held in such high regard by the Thai people. This was my 2nd visit as there is another attraction very close by so it is good to see attractions so close together and making it a well worth trip. There are panels attached to the base of the statue and if you wish you can research for the information relating to these, very interesting. There is no shade around the statue so I suggest you visit early or late in the day or bring an umbrella. Only a few kilometers outside the city. No entry fee at this time.
Located in front of the Wat Phukhao Thong Wat is this monument surrounded by big statues of colorful roosters. Also located in front of the wat itself is an altar with more roosters. I wondered what the story about these roosters. I took a lot of pictures to show them to my brother who has roosters in his farm.
well worth a visit , with the golden mount next door , both laid out in such well attended gardens , it is a place of worship and adoration for the Thai people and this is reflected in th way the park is laid out and kept .
This place was about The victory of The King who protect land from the enemy until to be Thailand to present.This location was not far from Wat Phra Sri Sanphet about 5 km.This area was so big area no shop no anything serve you just sightseeing and take some picture..
I have never heard of both this monument and King Naresuan before and was very suprise to find this impressive tall monument at the entrance to Wat Phu Khao Thong. The King’s statue on a horse reminding me of similar impressive monuments in Zhejiang Province, China. What a great way to remember and commemorate the King and his bravery.

A nice monument that is a little out of the city. There is a temple nearby. Many people exercise here in the evening. It looks lovely in the evening.
