Doi Chang Mub Arboretum is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 57130, Thailand
It’s off the beaten track and the first attempt to get there was aborted as a land slide blocked the road. However this place really is a gem. We arrived at about 10am on a Friday morning and had the entire place to ourselves. It’s just a really beautiful garden and extremely peaceful. You really don’t have to know anything about plants (I don’t) to appreciate the colours, the arrangements and the sheer variety. My teenage daughter grumbled a bit but even she liked the climbs and the views. Truly a hidden gem and highly recommended.
Beautiful mountain lookout. Manage by the military guarding the border between Thailand and Burma. It’s open to public.Few visitors are aware of this location. Just 100 meters further from the entrance of the Doi Chang Ma Faung Arboretum.
A lovely walk amidst the clouds. From the moment you walk in until you reluctantly depart your eyes feast upon the spectacular views and well tended flowers. A true delight. Not wheelchair friendly.
Doi Chang Mubarak Arboretum or Mae Fah Luang Arboretum has many rare species of flowers, especially Millennium Roses. The variety of plants from many countries in Asia, Europe, North America and Australia are gathered here. It was planted until the beautiful flowers here. In the early January – February, it became one of the most beautiful forest because of flower bloom.
Located high on top of a hill, during rainy season, this garden is sometimes covered in the mist. During our visit, we were the only people there. Quite a variety of plants, sadly just few of them labeled. Nice terrace with a splendid view over the plains. After rain, trail becomes quite slippery, so watch your step.

Traveling with boys to see flowers is challenging. But with talented young local guides help us to enjoy the story behind each part of the garden. Fruits, flowers, birds and insects becoming more interesting when someone can explain them well.
The Arboretum is nothing impressive, but if you head on the road that goes up, you’ll find a lovely village right at the border with Burma which is called Ban Pha Hi. It has amazing views and a unique hilltribe feel.
Recently become famous in the birding world for the variety of rare thrushes that have turned up there, this beautiful horticultural site is fantastically maintained, though rather lacking in facilities. Right on the Myanmar border in the hills and surrounded by forest, the views are great. There is a market opposite the car park. I found accommodation about 20 mins drive back down the road, & there is a homestay nearer too.
