Mueang Roi Et Municipality Aquarium is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking near Bueng Pha Lan Chai, Tambon Nai Mueang, Thailand
This Aquarium was an unexpected find in the middle of Roi-Et town park (buhm palang chai?) It has large tanks of various tropical fish, entry is free and is usually full of school children. A pleasant hour.
Even it is a small place but the Aquarium put a lot of fresh river fish for predestination. We easily spent two hours walking around the inside buildings. Many of fish which I haven’t seen before were kept nicely there. Some of them are very big.The display were simple but nice..
Nice and simple place for visiting some fishes. It’s free, just have a donation box at the entrance. All the family enjoyed it
This aquarium caught me totally off guard. It is completely free and they have some very interesting fish in there. I would highly recommend gong here with the family if you are ever in Roi Et, Thailand.
I felt incredibly sorry for the sad state of affairs visiting this aquarium. I have seen more fish at a pet shop and despite so few fish, it could be improved with real coral as opposed to plastic decorations for a fish bowl. Not sure if they should shut down or raise funds but really little point to its existence.
Not big, but a nice surprise in RoiEt. Big fish tank with walk-thru glass tunnel. Right next to the city center lake.
It’s rather small and it only took us about 30 mins to walk though and look at everything but it did make for a fun morning. With proper expectations it can be a fun visit with small children. Our 3 y/o and 1 y/o had fun looking at the different kinds of fish. It’s open from 8:30am-4:00pm and closed on Mondays. It’s in the heart of Roi-Et right by the City park and pond. Afterwards we walked to the New Year market which was close by. There are lots of fun coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants in the area.
It’s difficult to rate this attraction. If you are well travelled, and perhaps been scuba diving on a reef, or have stayed at home watching David Attenborough’s wildlife documentaries, this may seem tame.In the context of a smaller provincial city, this aquarium is an asset. It’s air-conditioned and cool, somewhere to go out of the elements on a hot or rainy day.The youngest member of our group was just 10 months old. To see her eyes following the movement of the fish, hear her cries of “pla” (Thai word for “fish”) and follow her finger pointing to what she was seeing was a delight.I am giving this aquarium a 4 out of 5 rating on the basis of providing stimulus and interest for younger people and families with children. If you are a seasoned traveller who has visited some of the world’s larger aquariums with a greater variety of animals, please do not be too disappointed when you visit this smaller local attraction. It’s especially good for families with younger children. Admission is free of charge.
Small but a nice aquarium displaying a variety of fishes. I was impressed how clean each fish aquarium was with proper lighting. Unfortunately the captions are not in English. In the lobby area is a nice wall mural displaying how bee wax figurines were once made. The wax chedi is an example of this technology. The city aquarium is clean and a nice addition to this province city.
