Thank you for another great experience. You have really done your museum beautifully and it is very educational. Your entire program and your volunteers are doing very well and have learned it all from scratch with knowledge of your place. Your entire area is good and you are there for the sake of the elephants and not to profit from the elephants. We will definitely come back again.
Educational and enjoyable experience at a true ethical andNot for profit organisation that genuinely care for the animals they have rescued from appalling mistreatment.
We wanted to visit a sanctuary that really cared for the elephants. Most of those purporting to be ‘caring’ still allow visitors to touch and even bathe with these majestic animals – continuing to cause them stress. Somboon Legacy Foundation has a ‘hands-off’ policy, whereby its only their mahouts, who they know, who touch them. Photos of how the animals looked prior to their rescue, are heartbreaking. And stories of how they had been ridden, 24X7 in ‘entertainment’ are dreadful. The education and experience at Somboon is brilliant, and should be a mandatory school visit or on-line, as well as being the best place for tourists to see these giants in their peaceful home.
I was a volunteer for a month at the foundation. Honestly, it changed me in such a positive way. The way they treat the elephants is just amazing, you can see it in the eyes of the elephants. They are stress free, happy and free, just like the animals are supposed to be. It is one of, if not the best, ethical elephant sanctuary in Thailand. A true example for all the others.
After thorough research of elephant sanctuaries in Bangkok/Chiang Mia, I was surprised to find that this is truly the only 100% ethical one being hands off! We learnt so much this day about elephants, sanctuaries and so much more. It’s very well run and organised. I can’t praise the team enough for a magical day one I’ll remember for ever. Seriously you have to do this if your in Bangkok or anywhere close toThe facility is on a resort so next time I would look at staying for a couple of nights Thank you again
I had a great time visiting Somboon. It was so nice seeing the elephants in their natural behaviour for as much as posible. Being able to see them nearby but not bothering them. I even had 2 guides who told me everything about the Somboon elephants and gave a lot of explanation about elephants in general. I hope more elephants get the change to grow old this way. I was there on the one year freedom anniversary of K.P. Thanks and hopefully meet you again one day? Sandra Kort
A fantastic day at Somboon Legacy Foundation. It’s set up so perfectly to give their gorgeous elephants the peaceful and stress-free lives they deserve. The structure of the day was good with a variety of activities and plenty of time to observe the elephants. The guides were very enthusiastic to share their knowledge and the day was educational as well as fun.
We had a great time on our guided tour. James and Mira were fun, knowledgeable and informative. We particularly wanted to make sure we were supporting an elephant sanctuary that was 100% ethical and that’s why we chose Somboon. No bathing with or riding on the elephants, just watching them. It was a great experience!
We visited Somboon Legacy foundation few days ago and it was just a great afternoon. We had a privilege to be first visitors who met new elephant Coon. Our volunteer guide James was so nice and easy to focused on the matter. We really recommed to visit Somboon Legacy if you want ethical experince. We also wish best of luck for elephants, volunteers and all lovely people!
