Mon Village is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Thailand
I’ve been to Mon Village three times – its a nice village with beautiful views, Get some local rice soup for breakfast and offer food to the monks in the morning. Take a boat ride to the sunken temples.
I’m sorry to say that this was such a dissapointing visit to Sangkla Buri. We live in Chiang Mai and were quite bored with the village as it had very little to offer us in the way of clothing or handi crafts. Also, restaurants were very hard to find here!
Usual tourist souveniers. Good for a morning walk before 9am via the red n wooden bridge. Quite a few place to eat n drink. Lots of souvenier shops selling Mon style clothing.
It was a good experience. People are nice. It was nice to learn about their culture and existence. They sell thanaka powder which they say is good for the skin to apply as mask. A lot of monks early morning and people give rice. It’s just amazing to be there.
Not much here, good for a stroll and a look, but really nothing worth buying. Cross the bridge, look around, and go back. Maybe buy a coffee…
Crossing the bridge from ‘downtown’ S’buri, you get into this pretty normal Thai (-Burmese) market village with lots of stalls selling souvenirs and food.On one corner there’s a coffee stall selling really good coffee.
NEVER want to go again such a waste of time and money. Wooden bridge ready to collapse. Dirty crappy area.
Mon Bridge is a famous wooden bridge that is considered as the longest wooden bridge in Thailand. It is an important symbol of Sangkhlaburi District. Kanchanaburi and the beauty of the scenery, especially the atmosphere at sunrise and sunset
I’ve been to this place for the first time, I felt the place had a pretty good atmosphere but the sun was pretty strong. And when I walked to the Mon Bridge, I saw a beautiful view. In addition, the food was delicious.
The Mon wooden bridge is spectacular, but most shops and stalls are inactive at present due to lack of tourists. A few stalls offering jewelry and clothes, but not much to get excited about.
