Wat Hua Khuang Temple is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Nai Mueang Subdistrict, 55000, Thailand
Just across from the national museum, one block from the city’s main street, this temple complex has a lot of variety to it
I found this Wat down a narrow alley, opposite the female prisoners massage shop.It is such a lovely retreat, hidden from the main road so it is peaceful.I found it had canine fans too.Worth a good look around.
This is beautifully lit up at night and is adjacent to the walking street. I tend to get”museumed out” pretty quickly and the same can be said for temples/wats. I preferred other wats but this was nice too.
I had crossed the road from Nan museum to this temple. Not so big but it has own style, a bit different from others temples in Nan, really nice.
During our city tour in Nan, we drove past this temple again and again (with maximum count among all main attractions in the city). Therefore, in my opinion, I think that the temple is the center of the city (what a powerful induction ; HaHaHa).The approximately 500 year old Lanna style serene temple has 3 main attractions (the main hall, the pagoda, the tripitaka hall). Inside the main hall lies the principle Buddha image which is not in the middle! (Instead, a little bit to the left). The legend has it that in the past, dwellers in Hua Khuang community and the nearby Phumin community often had quarrels. They believed that this was because the principle Buddha images of the 2 temples facing each other. Thus, to avoid any further confrontations, Hua Khuang community decided to move their principle Buddha image a little bit to the left. After that, the two communities reconciled.Since this is the center of the city, so don’t forget to make a stop and visit.
