Camping in Bankrang Camp. In the early morning , go to see the view on the top of the mountain called Khao Paneun Toong. Then walk to Tortip waterfall for 9 km.
I enjoyed my brief visit to Kaeng Krachan National Park in Phetchaburi. We spent a couple hours there and really enjoyed it. My reason for the average rating is only due to the fact that the park is rather small and we would have loved to have seen hiking trails and more activities here. One absolute must is a 600 baht boat ride around the lake which was beautiful. However, the absolute highlight was the island full of monkeys who literally swam out to our boat to get food. It was an absolute riot and an experience I’ll never forget.
A part from enjoying the beach at Cha-Am or Hua-Hin you may consider visit this National park, especially if you are there around April to May there will be lots of butterflies (many varieties) around the park in the area of “Ban Krang Camp” Car accessible.You can stay overnight in a tent up there or just get a day trip. There will be cost when entering the area, I cannot remember exactly the price but not more than 100THB per person.
We rented a motorbike to get to this place from Cha-am, The suspension bridge is the place where the famous Thai romantic movie scene “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” got shot. There is a marker to commemorate the scene.
While my wife was reluctant to leave the beach/pool in Hua Hin, we jumped in the car and adventured here to enjoy the lake and mountains. We took a one-hour boat ride around the lake in a safe, well-maintained long boat with a canopy overhead. It was a comfortable, relaxing afternoon ride enjoying the birds, swimming monkeys and fresh air. We bought monkey food at HQ and the monkeys swam from the island out towards our boat to eat.Boat/captain can be hired inexpensively at the national park HQ. The captains only speak Thai AFAIK and offer interesting info.

Suitable for vacationing or camping by the dam. The most popular activity is taking a long-tail boat to see the beautiful scenery around Kaeng Krachan Reservoir.

We got incredibly lucky during our visit. We saw three different troops of gibbons, many Great Hornbills, five different troops of Dusky Tree Monkeys. The park is huge so you can easily spend a whole day there.
The trouble might be because I had just came back from an enchanting visit to the Dana Nature Reserve in Jordan? This is supposed to be the largest National Park in Thailand, but having spent a morning butterfly watching, bird searching, wild life sniffing, all I saw was a forlorn wild elephant crossing the road, a trace of bear paws on a tree trunk, and a semi impressive park ranger. The potentials are aplenty, but apparently they are yet to be exploited to the fullest if they want to attract the tourists hungry for discoveries.
Our hotel arranged an exciting full-day adventure in Kaeng Krachan National Park with the knowledgeable Sit Kongsa. We departed at 7 a.m. in his specialized tour vehicle, traveling 30 kilometers into the heart of the nature reserve. Sit expertly navigated to the prime spots for birdwatching, although spotting mammals proved to be a bit more challenging. As anticipated, a sun bear emerged from the hillside ranger station, drawn by the food placed below by the rangers—a testament to the bears’ clever foraging habits. Despite our limited energy and less-than-perfect eyesight, Sit remained incredibly patient, guiding us through a captivating day filled with stunning bird sightings and fascinating insects. The experience, complete with a delightful lunch, was well worth the price of 5,200 THB.
