Wat Pha Bong (Mank Kalaram) is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Singharat Road Si Phum, 50200, Thailand
Beautiful, but smaller temple that was close to our hotel, the Sunday Market and Wat Phra Sing. Helped us to find our way home after a day of temple hopping or touring.
Wat Pha Bong is a small Buddhist temple located just off the famous Wat Phra Singh.Inside, the red color is dominant, at the level of the apparent frame, columns or side walls. The latter are also punctuated with frescoes on the life of the Buddha. The altar, at the back of the room, presents several statues, two of which in particular have a sacred character. The largest Buddha first, by its dimensions, but also the smallest in front of him, with his ushnisha (bulge at the top of the head that takes here in the form of a lotus bud) then that his crossed legs define the position of the lotus. Multiple signals and messages in different languages, as well as its flowers to decorate its surroundings, the Viharn of the temple invites to the discovery.Quiet place and not too much visitors
Make sure you bang the “Auspicious Gong” three times for “happiness healthy and peaceful”.The small temple, nestled behind a beautiful flower garden with lots of statues, is a must see if in the local area.Dotted around the grounds are motivational messages and various monuments to Kings and what-not.I’m glad I stopped off here. For some reason, the place just had a happy, peaceful vibe to it and the monks walking around the grounds were smiling and nodded at me.Very good.
This is a small temple just north of Wat Phra Singh. The Buddha statues and other objects in the temple grounds are quite cute and heartwarming. I don’t think there are many tourists because it’s close to a famous temple, but it might be worth a little trip.
