  1. 100 km from Udonthani downtown, this is the new spot for travelers to visit. The big white Reclining Buddha inside the chapel on the top hill is the new sacred place. So many people on weekend but it is worth to visit.

  2. I was taken to this temple by a Monk from Nong Han who I had met on previous trips to the village where his local Temple is, we travelled by Pick up and the trip took over 2 hours from just outside Nong Han.We arrived at a car park at the bottom of the hill and parked up, we then waited for a lift on another pick up to take us to the temple.I can only say that this was one of the most stunning Temples that I have visited in Thailand and I have visited many, having a Monk as a guide just added to the most surreal experience of my life, the inside of the main Temple needs to be seen to be believed with the main Marble statue in all its magnificent glory. If you are lucky enough to be in Udon Thani at any point then please take the time to visit, its an experience of a lifetime and one I will never forget.

  3. I rent car @ 1000bahts driving for 2 hours to the temple from UD town. A huge beautiful marble temple on mountain worth visit.

  4. This is everything I imagined a proper Thai temple should be. Peaceful, stunningly beautiful, amazing surroundings. I didn’t go on the weekend, though. Where it supposedly can get rather busy. I think the images already posted covers it well. Highly recommended!

  5. Whilst it is a long way from many points of interest if you plan a trip in advance you can visit the Sky a Walk after Nong Khai then Pa Phu Kon Temple the travel to Chiang Khan would make a decent journey. Getting there is along mostly flat land then in the distance you see the temple on the hill. A steep drive up and little parking at the summit but out of season it was great. The majestic temple is at the top of the staircase and is simply amazing. One of the better modern ornate temples to visit with a very large marble reclining Buddha statue. The views are exceptional and clear blue skies with no pollution was a bonus. Worth a visit and no wonder I have seen it many times on Thai tv

  6. The reclining Buddha is really pretty, and so is the view on a clear day. Not sure if it was worth driving all the way out here though as there is nothing else around.

  7. We have seen many Buddhist Wats in our years of travelling around Thailand. This one located on a mountaintop in Isan, near Udan Thani was really impressive. It appeared to be very newly constructed but immaculately created. The architecture of this Wat was very dramatic in size and design with numerous enormous bronze sculptures of huge Yaks and Dragons around the premises. Once inside, I saw the best sculpture of a reclining Buddha that I have ever viewed in Thailand. The features were exquisitely created and the human form was executed very well too.

  8. The amount of destruction caused to the forest was absolutely not worth to have this temple there. It’s not that impressive at all, compared to a lot of other temples I’ve seen. Quite bare other than the buddha statue. Luckely the nearby Nayung-Namsom national park in the area made up for driving all the way there.

  9. The Reclining Marble Buddha statue is amazing and gorgeous. The temple is beautiful and peaceful in the middle of the forest and on top of hill. It is worth to visit though located in a bit far in remote hilly forest area.

  10. Two hours from Udon with car. Try to come a non-holiday weekday since it can be busy! It´s well worth it, this is a very, very nice temple. A restaurang and coffee shop on site too. Of course you have to leave the beach tourist costume at home, as in every temple.
